First full build

Post by njp32 »

I've been dabbling on and off with custom rods for several months now. Mostly repairing guides and rewraps. I decided to attempt my first full build from scratch about 4 months ago. I'm building a boat/pier rod for my pro gear. I'm still not done lol. With work and college, I just don't have the time  . The rod is completely wrapped.I just need to epoxy a couple of the guides.

Wrap: Silver/Black
Blank: Biscayne rods 8' 15-40 fiberglass
Guides: Fuji hardloy heavy boat
Reel seat: Fuji Heavy duty graphite
Grips: flocked rubber shrink tube/ eva foam
total cost under 100 dollars. :thumleft:

I didn't take a pic of the blank. The model number is ft96-mh in their catalog. I can't find it anywhere online though. From what I remember them telling me, they get their blanks from a local supplier here in Miami. The blank was pretty cheap, I think I paid 25 bucks for it.

I've had my pro gear for 4 years now. It's a workhorse. I've thought about selling it for the newer, smoother, more powerful, more "advanced" reels of today but I just can't part with the thing. Someone offered me 180 bucks on the pier a couple years ago and I turned it down.
