Well on to the report. I actually woke from a drunkin stupor wonderful slumber to get to the launch site before first light, a first for me . As I past the ramp area, I noticed a few trailers already parked, but a fiasco at the ramps. Glad to be launching at the designated Derelict departure zone, I almost decided to stop and watch the show. Probably should have, by the time I was in the water headed to my first stop, it was a drag race of boats of all sorts trying to get to their holes.
Happy that these fishing folks were headed off to various horizons, I stopped at the little island just south of the entrance to the marina. Within an hour, reds in the 30" range had been C&R'd on every rod I carried, including a brandy new 200 Calcutta and a heavy pancake Penn 2.5 9 wt. fairy stick. This was spur of the moment trip, sorry Reel Rush wasn't there for his photo skills.

Still early I really wasn't set up for filet and release so when the reds turned off, I headed east staying on the grass flats so I wouldn't get run over by the procession of poling boats hauling a$$ to parts unknown. Tides on the last bit of rise and there are juvie poons every where. I decided to sight cast to a few, again hooking some on all three rigs I brought. I made it to the designated drinking/toasting area by 9:20, only 2 beers and 8 fish late.
Now I have to buck up and cross the I95 like traffic at the channel south of me, worth it for the chance for a three rig catch of the trout that I could almost smell. No luck on the 3 rig slam, I really think all the amature flats boaters mowing the grass, cutting the corner of the channel had the toothy guys running for cover.
A great day was had, and I attribute it to the wally world lures and hungry fish, certainlly not my skills
