What is the best way to preserve shark jaws?

By keeping them in a live shark.....

Not saying that I would keep every shark that I've ever caught, but Lemon Sharks are good to eat, and if I would catch one thats of legal size, and would want to preserve the jaws, how would I go about doing it?

I've gotta agree with MoJo, besides.....I have heard that removing the jaws is more work than it's worth.... tag and release

Buy a box of 50 single edge razor blades for the task. First you rough cut the jaws out of the shark with a sharp knife getting rid of as much meat as possible. After you get them out wear a filet glove and you take one of your razor blades and start cutting excess meat off. Keep cutting until you are tired of it or get most of the meat off and get down to the cartilage. Drop the jaws into some water/clorox solution for a couple minutes then take out. Place the jaws somewhere to dry where cats and animals will not tear them up (I put mine on the roof) let dry for a day.

Put back into water/clorox solution for 1/2 hour - take out - put filet glove on and do the razor blade cuts again for excess meat. This should be pretty good at this point.
Dunk in water/clorox solution for the last time to clean off. Sprinkle arm/hammer powder laundry detergent on jaws. Get two sticks one to prop the jaws open (up and down) and the other to prop open (side to side). place back on roof to dry out for a day or two (if it is raining put them somewhere where they can dry). They should be nice and white-not smell too bad.

take the jaw and try to cut all the meat that it has and then u can put in boiling water until is clean

SIMPLICITY.

Release your sharks but if one dies and you want to keep the jaws for a souveneir.

1)Cut off all the excess meat down to the cartilege.
2)Buy a pack of razors and take off the smallest pieces closest to the cartilege
3)With the same razors cut off the gummy fold that hides the extra set of teeth,both on the upper and lower jaw
-be very careful because the danger here is twofold from the shark''s teeth and the razor-
4)after the gums are clean and all the meat is removed buy hydogen peroxide(no water needed) 4 to 8 bottles and place the shark jaws so they are totally submerged in the peroxide.Leave them in the peroxide 1 to 2 days.This will in no way harm the jaws ,,,the longer the whiter they get
5)take the jaws and submerge them in a bucket of fresh water for 8 hours in order to remove all traces of peroxide
6) place inside the jaws two pieces of wood that you have cut to fit the size opening of the jaws
7)Place the jaws in the sun for two or three days until they are totally dry and all smell is absent.

From trial and error and after many years expierience this is the best way to get a bone white orderless set of shark jaws.

I use Heavy card board to hold the jaws open and pretty much do it the same way as mentioned above.

Except I use a spray bottle of straight bleach spray and than soak in water a very little bit I do this a few times, than I use Peroxide to whiten them it seems top work the best the bleach seems to yellow them more.

The point that Will makes when removing the bit that covers the teeth that are laying down is "for real" be real careful or you will slice your hands up bad.
