Is this part of the project to rebuild the beach? Do you know when the dredging will end? Thanks, David

Yes they anticipate it to be 150' wider  ; filled out all the way to the first sandbar. They are contracted for two years but it should be over in October :?, I hope.

Am i right in thinking that most of this dredging will be around the elbow and the rock pile?

I will be staying 1/2 mile from the park in late april. Plenty of beach down that end so am hoping the water will be clear and dredge free.

Will you be around the Cape about that time? We can soak some shrimp. Hopefully, the pomps will pop in for a meal. Regards, David

David,
The engineer I talked to (online) mentioned that their will be three offshore drilling sites; I'm not really sure where though, or how far offshore. They are supposed to start in March at the tip of the cape in the park and work their way down to the stump hole by october. Heres a link

Good luck in April, let us know how you fare! I'll be down for much of May and some of June.

Thanks. I got this email from a friend the fishing around the Cape and is a pretty smart man:

Hey David,

I will try to make it. We are not planning on being over there as of now but it sounds like fun! That is prime Cobia season over here so I may be a little bit torn but we were talking about going for Easter..... Steve, my neighbor at the Cape caught two small pompano by the rocks last week. If they are dredging it could stir the sand up and make the fishing better. Some of my friends fished right where they were dredging for beach renourishment out of Destin and caught lots and lots of pompano and redfish last year at this time. I hear the whiting are also biting really well right now at the Cape.

I've heard similar about fishing the dredges where the small crabs, fleas, and who knows what else is being pushed out. It would make sense that the fish congregate there.

Putt some nice fat shrimp out and you should catch fish all day long at the cape; from really anywhere in the surf. Good luck
