I was wondering when you were going to post that pomp, chino told me you had been there the night before and caught it....nice fish, gotta hook up one of these nights....well I went to the pier yesterday from 11 am to 2:30pm there were tons of ballyhoo around the T and small pilchards from the entrance to the middle of the pier.....every other rod was either freelined or trollied, what a mess! I did see one nice mack caught about 28 inches 7lbs 11oz. I weighed it on my scale and took a pic. I tried bottom fishing for about an hour before I went to the middle of the pier and tried for some pomps with no luck but at least there was no one around me and I was able to relax and enjoy the beautiful day....there were a couple more macks landed from the T that I didn't see but heard

Many bally- and some greens, at the begining of the pier people fishing for poms....

Was there last night from 7-9.Windy, the water had good color. I caught a jack while fishing for snook in the shallows. I saw one snook caught (undersized), and saw a few swimming around. Also one pomp was flipped while I was there.
I dream of a better tomorrow... where chickens can cross roads and not have their motives questioned

went to the pier this morning from 6am to 9:30am when i got there there were some snooks hanging around the balls of bait in the lights freelined some shrimp with no luck... when day broke the snook left and the cudas came in...i had a lizard fish eat one of my shrimp so i've heard that you can catch other fish with these so I hooked him up and let him swim in front of one of the cudas...at first he swam straight down and stayed still on the bottom as to camoflauge himself when i picked him up and he began to swim and the cuda got him...he chewed his head off then took off with the body until he finally spit it....that was all the action for the morning...it was hot muggy no wind water as clear as can be....see if you can find the cudas in the pic...thats how clear the water was...

That T can be a joke sometimes. It rates with Deerfield during the
Blue Runner Massacre in August with all of the Iwokenese!

Lessons learned today at Dania:
1- Dont go to Dania on a weekend. Period.
2- Dont ever, EVER drop a chumbag, catch a bait AND expect to go near the chumbag for the rest of the day without 5 other sabikis at that very spot.
3- Dont catch ANY type of fish and expect to fish the same spot without everyone on the pier at that very same spot when you get back.
4- T had 2 people fishing 4 rods at 600am. By 615am, there will be 6 fishing and 38 rods in the water.
5- Sea gulls and pelicans can be shooed off your bait at a great distance by clapping loudly and yelling loudly in spanish. Who knew they spoke spanish???
6- As heard on the pier today: "Do you catch those with a spanish fly?" (referring to a crappie jig)
7- Dont go to Dania on a weekend. What was I thinking???
Fished from 530am till 900am. I had one screaming run on a trollied hoo that did not hook up and I caught a bird. Thanks for helping with the release Paul.

i was there for the pompano just didnt have any bait!!!
i was 2 bucks short of buying a bag of sand fleas from the shop
i asked one guy if he would sell me a dozen live sandfleas for 3 bucks he said no! (he had a bucket full
)
and asked another guy if he would sell me some dead ones and he said no! ( he had a huge bag full!!
)
i had to resort to asking people to borrow money i asked someone who i think is you zebo but am not to sure
the pomps didnt touch the shrimp i found under a bench
stayed there until 9:00pm around 8:00pm some bluefish came in i caught 3 decent ones
got a big hit on a live grunt, fought the fish in and had it by the pier, it looked like a big mutton snapper,
me and another guy tried handing it up, but my hooked popped out of his mouth around 2 feet out of my reach
it wasn't a mutton but was the biggest mangrove snapper ive ever seen at a pier!!
