I voted it doesn't make a difference because, for example, if you catch a nice fish somewhere, it may have just been a one time thing.

I can see why people do it and don't blame them at all. I refuse to take a picture on a bridge in the Keys with a fish.....tends to bring a crowd.

I think it is ok to do.

What you give up is a personal preference, but what everyone should always remember is that alot of people just lurk and learn this is ok, but there is a group that hit up areas because they think they produce better and swamp out a fishing spot because they have no imagination and sense of adventure in finding a spot, straight up lazy, they may also be Poachers.

If it is a public place like a pier or jetty it really does not make a difference, but a bridge it can make all the difference in getting fish and Snook spots you should always be careful who you even tell.

I want everyone to catch fish but not at the expense of killing private Honey Holes those should be for the ones who find them.
It is great to share just use common sense in what you share.

I think it's really, really, I am so happy. If you don't want to show a spot then kneel on the floor and take the pic aiming at the ground. If you know you don't want your spot shown then stop taking your pics with your spot in the background. My opinion for what it's worth.

This is a fishing forum that 99.9 percent of those that get on here are SPORTSMAN and observe rules/regulations/laws.

With that said. I can agree with blobbing out the background at a Keys Bridge spot, why???? Well because 99.9 percent of us are going to keep a keeper snapper, a slot snook, a keeper grouper, a cobia, etc etc. We are talking about eating fish here. So Joe Forum Dude may have a spot on a bridge where it goes from 9 feet to 29 feet, and that is a "small limited" spot. Again, fishing for fish 99.9 percent of us would take home in a heartbeat. NOW.. For freshwater fish!!!!! Take another poll of us on here catch a 3lb largemouth in some toilet bowl, I mean lake in Coconut Creek or Miami, and take it home and eat it, and see what response you get from that. The land based saltwater honey holes are very very limited. Freshwater honey holes???? Come on. I challenge any person on this forum, lurkers to posters, to honestly tell me that they cannot think of at least 10, yes TEN spots that they could, does not have to be that they "did", but could fish for largemouth and peacocks within a 10 minute ride from their house. Parkland, Coconut Creek, Margate, Coral Springs, etc... it is impossible to drive more than 2 minutes without seeing some sort of freshwater lake/pit/pond/canal. IMPOSSIBLE. I can think of 40 bodies of water that I fished my last 10 or so years fishing down here. And to tell you the truth, nearly every one has resulted in at least a small bass.... how do u think that small bass got there... from its momma, a bigger bass... so they are there..... I can think of 100 more that I passed and not fished. And... for the most part.. with some exceptions.... 90% of the largemouth in those bodies of water have never seen an artificial lure in their lives? I never measured how many miles of accessible banks that border freshwater spots in Broward/Dade/Palm Beach county... but I would bet my tackle that it is well over 1000 miles, if not more. Accessible saltwater "PRODUCING" spots... not nearly as many, and add in the fact that a 14" inch mangrove snapper is more likely to be taken home than a 14" largemouth?!?!?!?!?!?!

When I fished the ten thousand islands with Jesse (charter)
We find a honeyhole that was only 5 minutes from the dock and he had been fishing those water for a decade i belive, but he discvoered it with us and man we nailed soem big reds, snook, crevalles and goliaths in that hole. I was hooked up to a big snook, but jesses started yelling at me to lower my rod tip and stop fighting the fish, because another guide was passing by us. All so he could save his new spot.

Frentals.... Good point... again you bringing up a spot, a "single location" that could have been some sort of structure holding those fish. If Jesse had 100 spots just like that, do you think he would have you lower your rod? A spot like that could be 1 in a million... peacock and largemouth spots are EVERYWHERE. That would be like going to Sawgrass Park in the winter where 100+ bass days are common, and hooking a bass and lowering your rod because you were hooked up with a bass? They are everywhere when the flats are dry and the fished are forced into the canals... its no secret... and its no secret that the canals off the Sawgrass Expwy from Atlantic Blvd to the Turnpike hold both peas and largemouth. To me that would be just obsurd catching a 4lb largemouth in a canal off the Sawrass Expwy and blobbing out the trees in the background so other sportsman could not figure out where I was. Heck, go ahead, figure out where I am. And when you do, and catch an 8lb largemouth, IM me, thank me, and ask me If I want to join you for a future bank hopping trip to one of your 20 honey holes.

To me it only takes one person to eat that 8 lber to make me the idiot. Obviously, if all people were like you bluefish, I would have no problems posting pics with backgrounds, but the truth is that there is a group of people out there that are to lazy to learn the water around them, and would rather take a shiner to a spot they see in a pic. I have seen these "shiner guys" at my canals and it only takes one to ruin a healthy population.

We have a difference of opinion. I can see your point, but I would rather not take the risk.

He said that was one of the best honeyholes he ever discovered his entire life fishing the 10k islands. Tha amazing thing was it was so darn close to the dock and all the housing developments.

It surprises me too that these guys buy 6 dozen shiners, instead of chicken or something else, but they do it. As for internet, come on, most people have it, or knows someone that has it.

Like I said, my attitude is that it only takes one.

BTW, somebody on FS said that they posted their pics, and soon after there was somebody fishing there that said they saw the pics on FS and decided to go fishing there.

I know, "This is no FS", but it is the same idea.

Island I doubt anyone on the forums is looking to fish your spot. If any of the shiner fisherman go there it's because they just happened to try it or they saw you with their own eyes while you were fishing it. You might as well wear an invisibility cloak while you're out there fishing. Just be careful as passerbys will not be able to see you and you might take their eye out..

btw- There are no secret spots. PERIOD!!!!

HA is kind of correct! but the less people that know about the spot the better it is. i know of a property down south that is stocked with snook. if people were to find out, that would be the end of that. as for the whitening of the backround, i perfer blue.

it is a waist of time though. if you find a spot that does not stick out to everyone for yor pics imagine how much more fishing time you would have.

You think your spot is a hotspot? What about one of the spots on the above map? It would take a bank beater YEARS, better yet...a lifetime to aggressively fish all those waters.

This is a place where I can see keeping a spot hush hush... as there are hardly any places to fish.. maybe a few lakes... so you have 100 bass fisherman, for every 1 or 2 lakes. Here in S Florida.. you have 100 bass fisherman for every 100+ bodies of water. There was a lake called Burke Lake up there... on any given weekend during the season, EVERY opening along the bank was taken. There were a few lakes near a Prison up there, awesome lakes. You had to walk through a field FILLED with TICKS, deal with the prisoners yelling "bring you and that fish in here boy" (if they were outside of course) and still.... during spring and fall... after 4pm, there would be 3 to 5 guys out there fishing.

yeah! i used to fish this small lake at tamiami til someone saw me catch a few peas and there went the neighborhood. next time i went everyone and their mother was there.
