went today and started casting pilchards. first two cast produced hits but no hook ups. it died down for awhile. then around 5 i caught a mojarra and freelined her out to be smacked hard by something and cut my line.outside of that, didnt see anyone bring anything over the rail while i was there.

water looked real good.

Sharing my catch from Juno

Post by TarponRob »

I know many of you don't check the Juno update so I thought I would share what has been going on up here. Cobia, Cobia and more Cobia. 12 were caught yesterday alone. Here are my two from last week and this week. That's all from Sharkey's Tackle. Tight lines to everyone in Broward.

I has not been bad on the week days. My days to fish are Tuesday and Wednesday when I close the shop, but every other day there are 4 to 6 guys standing on the tee with cobia jigs and another 2 or 3 fishing a bottom rod or two. There is room for more anglers.

Small Mojarra's have been nailing bigger Macs at DFP while Bigger Gogs got the Kings eyes lately...Maybe that is what did it?

ah i went out there friday night with plans to catch bait for saturuday morning. but i just took a few rods with me incase i wanted to fish. my boy justin was with me. i took out the 4/0 wide and threw in a dead sand perch on a SHARK LEADER haha the hook was like the size of the sand perch about 5 minutes later im fishing the tee and some guy it walking up holding the 4/0 wide with line screaming off of it. i take it and crank on this sucker. it happened to be about a 60 lb blacktip pretty nice. i took pictures threw him back in and about 10 minutes later i se him washed up shore bound. i was furious what i nice shark dead. well i picked him up gutted him n steaked him. threw him in my cooler caught a couple blues n went home. now its saturday at about 5 am. im out here. tossing in baits for muttons and hogs. whyle fishing for mangroves inder the pier.
nothing really happened couple bluefish. im just messin around till it turns. about 10am.. them om out there fishing a sharkbait it started goin out click click a few times. then stoped nothing big cutting jaws out of the blacktip.took some time tom has the jaws in anglins. drying out.. now i go eat lunch come back n catch jacks blue runners and my boy trembly catches some nice macks. ok it gets late. about 9:00 pm i go off the tee and cut up 2 steakes of the black tip throw out chuncks. getting bluefish out the butttt. im talking about every 2 minuted youd catch one harley and mike are sleeping so its just my and my boy justin reelin n coolerin them fish like nothing. getting some nice monster blues then anthony a.k.a COOKINMAN comes out there sets up his gear and instantly is is smoking the bluefish. well the 4/0wide os going off so my boy justin picks it up and sets up and all you hear is ""OHH S#it""" and i run over there n that line snatcher breakes off . 20 minutes later it gose again. i pick it up my turn i set up and whatever is on the end of my line took off like a bat out of hell. i mean he took atleast 200-250 YARDS off in like record time just peeling im wondering how come i dident get cut off yet i wasnt useing wire only 100 lb mono leader my sideplate is getting hot i mean HOTT i thought the frying an egg on the side plate was a joke heck naw it was really hott i had this fish on lock down and then about half way to getting him in and pop i was furious.gosh that was the highlight drag burning action after than nothin but bluefish and sandies. what a night. thanx to cookinman everything was iight. supplying goggs helpin out other. hey anthony you have my knife right? i left it with you.

Did you actually bring it onto the pier and throw it back out? Maybe that's why the shark died...

#$%^, what I wrote came off a bit rude...

I'm sorry dude, glad you used it and none of it went to waste.

Next time, of you plan on releasing a shark from a pier, just put a straight and steady pressure on the line, and it should break of either at the hook or leader. Then, the hook should fall of in a couple weeks...
If you hook a shark from a beach, then you can beach it and safley release it. But to bring up a fish that big on a pier almost guarentees the death of the fish.

well i no that much its ok i dident take it as you were being rude  but this fish had to be brought up. it was tail rapped. like really rapped. i have no clue how but i brought hum up in the net. and took a picture n sent him back but for bigger sharks i jump down to the beach. and my friend throws me the rod. so i can fight him on the beach. and then i beach him and take pictures. and gives him a safe release.
