Don't know if you're aware, but FWC will give you a reward if they catch the poacher. I believe it's $100 for snook.

Was anybody there Saturday around 6pm to 7pm? There was only one guy catching, and he was slayin' the macs! Nobody else was catching much, it was otherwise pretty dead, even the bait seemed to have moved on elsewhere. :happyfisherman:

Who was that guy? :viking:

Went out for 2 hours at Sundown with my son Sunday... 1 small jack that he caught on his rattle trap. Bait was scarce.

Went Monday morning. Small pods of glass minnows and pilchards. Caught a ton of Jacks on Yozuri Crystal minnow, and a double! Right in the surf. Mullet were scarce on both days. School of 10 about 12", and a school of fingers. But nothing on them.

Pretty slow this morning, water way too clear. A total zoo of a crowd. However, I experienced a first for me though: I saw a ray cruising with a nice cobe trailing it, all right under my nose! I quickly reeled in my live pilchard and dropped it in front of him, and bam! Fish on! :reeling:

It was a good fish, surely a keeper, but alas, a couple of seconds later, he spit the hook!!! :pale: OMG, what a heartbreaker. :nopity:

And so, the cobia continue to elude me. But I took home a nice AJ as a consolation prize. :drunk:

Been waiting patiently for a dramatic weather change and this may be it. At least I'm all in on believing it is. If anybody's brave enough, I'll be out tomorrow early. I'll be the guy with the tuna hat!

Thanks for adding some reality to that other report. The pier's crowded enough without inaccurate or unsubstantiated claims.

I heard a big splash and people excited screaming, suddenly a shark shoots out of the water like a spinning torpedo, right in front of me! Twice! Gotta be one of the coolest sights I've ever seen off the planks. :dude: It was about 6 feet long, Spinner Shark I guess, (duh). Later I found out a guy fishing for sharks had hooked and lost it.

Other than that it was as dead as frickin' dead gets. Somebody forgot to tell the fish it's fall.

Hit the pier yesterday from 7:00AM till about 1:00PM, there was almost no live bait, was able to catch some ballyhoo with some chum, but that was about it. Everything that was hitting was mostly blue runners with the occasional lesser amberjack, there was one Mack caught all day, didn't get a follow on x-rap, gotcha or the crappie jigs. It was a gorgeous day though, Hopefully the Mack's start cooperating soon.

Tight lines.

I was mentally planning on heading out this morning  . But after scanning for any reports and the sad news they contained  , I'll wait another day :bounce: . Besides, I had become one with the bed covers and I decided not to lose their trust by leaving so early. And being Sunday, there's football and Cap'n Morgan in the other room! :dude: :drunk: Till next time, my brothers of the wooden plank, tight lines and cold beer! Out! :jester:

I hit the planks today from about 9 to 1:30 p.m. Pickings were really slim. Joe managed one nice cero and a small Spanish on cut strips and a drifted float. Greg, Mike and I worked both rails from beach to tee with Gotchas, jigs and Yo-zuris. Had a couple of lookers but no takers. Couldn't even jug up a sand perch if you paid me. Frustrating at best. Only bait was glass minnows in close. I heard the macs were killing them just before dawn and then it basically died. At least I saw that they're here, most likely in small numbers so far. Tight lines, dudes! Out.

Was out for a couple hours this morning and it was as dead as I've ever seen it. Don't think a single keeper sized fish got pulled in by anyone. No baitfish, either.

Went out today, 9 to noon. Apparently the action was earlier in the morning. Joe scored a nice mack and a big Crevalle Jack! Steady wind from the southeast, cloudy water and enough waves for some surfers. Most folks were fishing the north side. The only bait I saw was glass minnows and they were further away from the pier so they must have felt safe out that far. NOTHING else was happening. Not even a mack coming close to eyeball a bait or jig. One dude tossed a jack head out on the bottom, on what looked like a 4/0 from the distance I was at. I knew it would get sniffed out, but not as soon as it happened. Boom, the water exploded and up came about a four foot spinner. Jumped three more times then spit the hook. Thought it was a huge tarpon on the first jump! Great action for about 60 seconds. The talking and bragging last longer, about an hour. But, still a great to be out and on the wooden planks. Got bored around noon and bolted for the parking lot. Still had two hours on my parking sticker and I gave it to some French Canadian guy that wanted my space. Note to self: learn how to swear in French! Headed home for a six pack of Platinum and football and maybe a nap. Out!

Last night from Pompano Pier, got about a 5lb Jack. Pretty damn slow there still. Anyway, I decided to keep it and see if it was acceptable table fair. (Not something I normally do with Jacks, but the wife said bring home some fish!)

I've had small ones before, they were ok, but this thing was a bloody mess! Then, the last straw was the thin little worms that started oozing out as I was skinning it. These worms were thinner/longer than the usual spaghetti looking ones. I nearly hurled. :pale: Quoth the raven, "Nevermore!"

Friggin "started oozing"!!!! Did you have to be so graphic? Been blowing chunks since I read it. And if any of you sick minds are considering posting about the pomp you cut open and that alien thing jumped out of a pile of undulating spaghetti and spit snot on your face forget it. I'm off all fish forever thanks to you-know-who
