first snook and tarpon on fly rod in one night!!
went to john lloyd sunday evening but it was a total washout, winds were very strong and waves were very violent crashing all over the jetty all my gear got soaked and I got half soaked
I left and decided to hit this spot just minutes away, my friend said its full of snook and baby tarpon so it would be fun to pass some time and mess with the fish, tied on the fly my friend said was murder for snook and tarpon at night and started casting. fished for about an hour and a half and witnessed the fly getting whacked every now and then, after missing about 4 hookups I finally hooked up with a small scrappy fish, I thought it was a ladyfish till I saw it was a tiny tarpon
she's not that 100lb Islamorada trophy fish but hey a first tarpon on fly is exciting nonetheless. about 15 minutes later had another hookup this time a much stronger battle and after about a minute finally landed my first snook on the fly rod! great way to make up for a rotten time on PE jetty.
