Any bridge or channel will hold them. They like good flowing water. You can catch them on a live thredfinbherring, pilchard, mullet, crab, pinfish and big artificial plugs/lures as well.

The largest spinning reel i have is a Shimano Sphero 14000 and a diawa shx50. Should i load them up with 50 lbs braid or just use mono?

Braid. I have landed all of mine this season on power pro slick 8 #50 loaded on a 6500 bait runner. Stuff works great and casts even better. Even landed a couple blacktips from beach using it.

Your landing those tarpon on braid from bridges ? I wouldn't fish near a bridge for tarpon with braid. From the beach for capacity braid all day. From a bridge braid doesn't hold up to structure well esp pilings in my experience.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Jewfish Creek can produce fish. If you go in the evening be prepared to brave the bugs is all I'm saying. There are various sections you can fish there and jump around if you are not doing good at a certain spot for a while just move on.

aww man that short window when jewfish creek had the bridge under construction ( you were able to drop your lines right in the middle of channel) was some of best boatless fishing ever..I think that was '09

It does seem like a nice place John, we haven't been there yet but we may just need.to try it out. Is the food good there? I like the fact that its on the water there.
Andrew, let me know ahead of time and ill see if I can join you on those trips. I'm just on the other side of the stretch. Good luck and have a safe trip to the islands man.
