Dania Pier Fishing Reports 2012 "ONLY REPORTS"

I went to the pier today at 3 pm to find that it was incredibly windy and but the sun was just scorching! There were plenty of pilchards underneath the pier at the T which i catch with sabikis, but there weren't much catches that day. I hooked a chard at the nose and kept at on the floor with a 2 oz. weight. I had another rod in which i freelined another chard with 2 split shots on the line. I didn't get any bites but i saw a small snook brush up against the freelined chard, but that was all. One guy caught a brown fish which i think was flounder (i didn't get an up close view) and another caught a mack that he was using for shark bait. That's when i left since the sky started storming up. I only fished 2 1/2 hours. It seems that dania has been pretty dead this year except for some good catches.

This past Friday was a lot of rain...and the pier was perfect ratio of the human species and rods.

Saw some blue runners get caught...a shark...and a about 8-10 yellow striped fishes that did not seem like snappers tho...don't know what they were. but that was later like maybe 5.

Nothing spec. but no sun beaming it was alright.

Sat.....saw the same blasted shark get pulled up.....couple of needle fishes....a true yellowtail....and i pulled up a smaller sheepshead or look alike I had to throw back in.....but i was only there a few hrs cuz the sun was having its revenge. Humans seemed to play alright aside from someones obnoxious kids who misread Romper Room at the T somewhere or flyer.

Hope others had better luck.

went to dania for the first time in awhile not much going on some kid got lucky with a nice lil 20in mutt heard a few mac's early in the day nice to go back n hang out

Thought I'd give Dania a shot today. Paid for a few hours parking, take my gear up to the booth, and so, a suck-a$$ day begins...

As I'm paying to get in I'm told I can only stay 45 minutes cause they decided to do a scuba cleanup and the pier's closing. So what about all the money I just fed the frickin' meter??? Sorry bud, you're screwed.

Water was dirty-dark-green, even bait was hard to catch. The one hit I had came loose because the circle hook had doubled back into the pilchard.

Just another lovely day out on the water. Oh, did I mention Bass Pro was still closed when I got there (thinking the trip wouldn't be a total blowout)?

On another note, I see alot of useless crap being posted here; didn't anyone know about the pier closing and care enough to post that?

I took my son fishing at Dania Pier the last couple of days. Sunday the pier was full, and it was difficult to find elbow room. We brought up Pinfish going low, but nothing else. I saw one person bring up a small blue runner with a got-cha lure, but not much more was caught while we were there. The pier rats were rude and the make up of the crowd was more fitting for a biker bar than a fishing pier.

We tried again Monday and the pier was less crowded. This time we tried free line. Still no fish. The people there were more civil, but I spoke to someone in the know who told me that a bad element has taken to hanging out by the pier, "Drinking, smoking, and doing other things they shouldn't be doing". Not exactly the kind of place I want to take the family fishing. In the two days we tried Dania Pier we saw plenty of the bad element, and not one of the good guys (cops) ever came near the place. Additionally, it looks like the place is fished out.

Does anyone know a better spot in the Broward County area?

You would be better off just fishing at John Lloyd.No drunks, just the surf and on the weekdays plenty of peace and quiet.

Hit or miss. Monday bait was thick, easy just about anywhere. Today, few and far between. I fish Dania a lot. This morning was a first for me. One of the older pier regulars (not drunk) comes to within 3 feet of me, stands in the corner, and takes a piss. Not at night, about 9:30am - broad daylight. Plenty of people around. Just when I thought I had seen it all at "the tee"..... Is this how pier fisherman mark their territory?
