Any Restaurant Suggestions-Non Report

Hey Guys,
I am looking to get the local scoop on some good on the water restaurants where I can get a good grouper sandwich and cold beer while visiting FL. Staying at the Marriot Beach Harbor resort. The restaurants on site look a little to foo-fooey for my liking. Not looking for anything fancy or expensive...a low key place to have a few beers and a fish sandwich. The concierges at the hotel always suggest the place who line his pockets despite being good food or not.

Try the Aruba Cafe, on Commercial Boulevard at the ocean, just north of Anglin's Pier. You may want to call ahead first. Good food, great locale! Chris is the head chef there. I swear by him.

Aruba by far has the best view. I will go there for drinks but wouldn't eat there by choice. Food is decent in my opinion at bestbut atmosphere is great . I have eaten there a dozen times or so over the years, and never had a memorable meal or anything that made me want to go back to eat it. For the money so many other places I'd rather eat but none have that view.
Best thing about Arubas is the view and the closeness to Anglins so you can take a walk on the planks after. Worst thing about it is the parking or rather lack there of.

I like sundowners in key largo... Good food and awesome sunset view, the rusty pelican has a nice view but the food is only OK IMO and its pretty pricey.

If view is of no importance try mortons steakhouse!

Sundowner is a great choice but no where near Ft Lauderdale or even Broward county.

Sea Watch on A1A between Atlantic and Commercial- great views and great food- a little pricey, but since the restaurant/bar on Pompano pier closed it is the best overall...

Stay on the beach. You can hit Quarterdeck, which is fine. You will have others to select in the area mixed in with the wannabe ritzies. If you want to walk a bit, head north and check out Parrot Lounge and Cafe Bluefish. All within range. No need to travel. Arubas is lame. I wouldn't bother. Trust me, I worked that beach forever.

Depends on how important the view is.
Tarks on US 1 and Sheridan has good food for a good price.....no view
Jimbos on AIA has a nice view but poor food.
The Ark on Sterling has no view but a cool place good food, all you can eat for $25 bucks.
Davie Ale House, cheap drinks and if you pick the right food it is good. No view
There are a ton of inexpensive places to eat with good to decent food, most of those do not come with a good view of water but still have some good "views".
Bimini Boatyard in Ft Lauderdale for water view and good food can be pretty good. A bit pricey for me. Food and drinks for 2 will run over $100. It's the drinks. LOL.

The quarterdeck is the one to try for. Being close and decent. The party is there too. Or you can continue east a couple of blocks and be across frOm the water.
Don't miss goo g to the convention center across from where you are at and see the sailfish water fall with dolphin and mullet being chased. It is a great display

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the restaurant info. I am about ready and packed for my trip. Both rods are done, reels are lined up, and tied a bunch of bucktail/fishhair/flashaboo jigs last night. Next step, rest my feet in the warm sand and hope the fish gods are good to me.

About a block South of Quarterdeck, on the West side of A1A, next door to the swiming hall of fame, is Coconuts. The view is of the ICW, but the food is great. A little pricey but no worse than anywhere else. If you get up by Pompano, Huston's is on the ICW and Atlantic NW corner. Dock side not ocean view. Lot's of boat traffic waiting for the Atlantic ave bridge. Never been disappointed with the view there.

I just ate there last week. Great food and tons of big jacks , tarpon, and mullet cruising under the dock.

No offense guys, you want in the biz info, ask somebody in the biz! I think Southport Rawbar on Cordova Rd. has your name all over it! Good food @ a good $, cold beer and wine no liquor. I go there all the time after work and its got your name on it sir! Bon Apetite!

In the biz insider really two of us here where probably in the biz before you were born. Southport is a decent local or in the biz bar. No view no liquor limited beer selection and decent bar food at best. Cool dive bar but unless you want a tshirt not somewhere I'd take a tourist.

Ate there yesterday. Sat by the band. My lil one's eyes were glued to the band. Good service, good beers & drinks, good food, and great scenery. I watched one charter comb the beach for a barracuda and all the local spring break fun.

Thanks Rob, 35 years and counting, in the biz. I've got the best view and food ever @ Steak 954 at the "W" on the beach. If any of my Boatless brothers are looking to drop coin on a special occasion, let me know and I'll make it special. I'm sure we all have favorite hangouts. I'm addicted to the thin-sliced pork sandwich on garlictoast@Southport. See you at the pier, I'm there on Mondays and Fridays and back to the reports I go!

Many thanks to ya'll and your restaurant suggestions. We hit Coconuts twice...great food and plenty of lookers... also hit another joint on A1A between Coconuts and the hotel that was decent...think it was called Bahia Cabana. Decent food and good drinks...nice to sit outside on the dock and watch the boats crusing in and out. One question...I want to know why a boat needs (4) 300 horse four stroke motors to idle around the intracoastal. I saw a lot of that...holy mackeral...lots of dinero down your way. I believe the hit of the trip were the Scoobies at Coconuts. I could have eaten them morning, noon, and night. Again, many thanks to ya'll.
