FYI: The last of the "free" parking is set to dissappear for us who fish south county.....Boca is putting parking meters up by May:(

Caught one in the early light this morning - something was eating the fleas off but the water was so clear. I have not heard any Hobe Sound reports - let us know how you do.

Fished all day today, if you could get fleas you got pompano. Unfortunately I only got 3 fleas all day. I had fresh shrimp but they would not touch them, and the crabs were having a feast of them. A guy next to me was killing them, he kept about twice his limit...not smart to do at a National Wildlife Refuge. When I left he was getting the 10th degree from a Federal Wildlife Agent.

Fished MacArthur Park saturday afternoon after fighting low tide and current kayaking munyon island.... managed a small pomp on frozen shrimp... had fleas but they were stripping them off the hook. Anybody done well round here?

I caught 3 in Juno this morning on frozen fleas. I must have been in a good spot becuase I did not see many others caught and there were a lot of guys fishing. No live fleas around at all.

Hit the beach in south county tonight. Got there at dead low tide. Beach looked like 4 twenty with all the weed on it. Stayed for about 20 calico's, (only about an hour) and headed to Boca Jetty. Had 3 solid hits with no circle hook sets. I need new hooks.

Snook are moving into the beach, stopped by Juno the other day and caught a few, then down in my area yesterday morning and they were on. Spoons were the ticket but I caught some on bucktails as well.

I caught one 16" pompano this morning at daybreak - very rough surf and hard to get it past the break into the wind. Saw a few others caught - should be good the next 2-3 weeks!

Hit the beach today north of Juno Pier. I was mostly there to hang out with the fiance, but I saw a few snook swimming around real close to the shore. They didn't like my silver casting spoon, but they were around. It would have been more fun if the beach wasn't mobbed with people. Maybe during the week will be productive!

I hope you're right! I'm hitting the beach tomorrow morning north of the pier. Hoping to hook into something. I've pulled a donut on my last 6 fishing attempts! Florida is still pretty foreign to me though, so every time out I narrow it down.

I went out again this morning. I tried silver casting spoons of varying sizes, a 3/4 oz. red and white bucktail jig, and a few different colors of 4" plastic jigs (green w/ orange belly, black and white, and pearl). Oh and a root beer DOA shrimp. Fished the first trough walking up and down between juno pier and the inlet, and casting mostly diagonally, occasionally straight out. Tide was heading out and hit dead low while I was there. This makes 7 attempts now without a fish! Still narrowing it down. I am a long way from my familiar salmon grounds in Alaska.

Try MirroLureCatch2000 suspending twitch bait, or similar subsurface bait. Also try swimbaits in the 3-4 inch range and you will be rewarded.

X Rap in Ghost color. Model # SXR08 or SXR10. Also if you decide to go on the pier you can use Model #SXR14. They tend to be hard to find because they match up well with the summer bait that's in the water. They can be used for Kings off the end of the pier in the evening or the big bruiser snook. Always be gentle with the snook though. Especially when releasing from the piers.

Good deal - in a couple of weeks, I'll be flipping flies at some surf snook...I typically don't get the big ones that way. But it usually works ok

Beach fishing has not been the best so far this year, at least in the Boynton area. When the fish are in just about anything works. Off the beach my best success are spoons, feathers and plastic jerk shad on a jig head. Be patient, it will happen.

I fished the beach in Juno the last few mornings from a little before sunrise to about 8:00am. Saturday morning looked pretty promising. Birds up and down the beach waiting around, bait everywhere. There were a few really big fish chasing bait around. One guy said they might be tarpon. The action only lasted a few minutes though. I caught one decent sized jack and that was it.

This morning was a different story. Grass everywhere, current ripping, southeast wind, no bait, no birds.

Thanks to JWORM for the advice on the catch2000. Caught my first beach fish on one!

Fished Juno Beach again this morning from before sunrise to 8:00. Saw just a few birds and no real bait to speak of. Tide was low. I fished a rip most of the morning and managed a mackerel and a jack. The clouds on the horizon kept the light low for a lot longer than normal which was pretty pleasant.

How are the beaches looking this time of the year? Are they still packed or emptier? Thinking about heading up on Friday or Saturday if I dont head for the Keys!

It was my experience (as an 'outsider' who was fishing Juno Pier for the latter half of last week) that the popular access points (Juno Park for example) still had its share of beach goers...but that it was an easy walk to find your own space away from people...and although there was parking up and down A1A, most people seemed to congregate to the areas I mentioned above. You can easily find tranquility if you want...I don't ever travel to FL during the 'normal' tourist season and thus, don't know how what I just described compares to other times of the year
