Blacktips 3/13

Post by Jordan »

Hit up the same spot this weekend for some blacktips with connor. We went 1/4. We were using chunks of bonita from atlantic bait and tackle, and they just weren't down for it. We saw sharks busting all over and lost 3. At the very end connors rod went off while he was down the beach and we ended up landing a pretty damn big blacktip after about a 10 minute fight on a spinning reel. Will post pics later.

If you are fishing from the beach, how far out do you need to put your bait?

If the tips and spinners are thick like they were today not that far we yakked out like 50-75 yds to get our baits out. Dudes next to us weren't even yakking their baits out and were nailing the tips on every bait they put out (which were fresh gogs..).

Casting palm sized fresh cut runners, jacks or blue fish works for me when they are this thick. They are right on the beach. Would be nice to yak one out though, I've never been able to do that.

Couldn't get our hands on anything fresh really.. I think next weekend i'll pick up gogs though because the guys down the beach were nailing the tips with them.

Didn't try for pomps teen.

We'll have pics later in the afternoon, I have to drop the USB plug at my friends because he has the camera at his house and no plug.

I'd rather just buy it from you if I can't get any bait during the week, I'll let you know if we ever need, thanks dude.
