free-line your baits or drop them right by the pier if the water is clear enough as to where you can tell there aren't any sort of bottom structures in which you know you aren't going to get snagged. Another thing you could do is to just stick to arties

I feel your pain. I do not get hung up, however my son and his friend, which use my gear cost me a s#$t load of $$ in lead, hooks and leader when ever we go. That rally does not bother me cuz i fugure that I am investing in the future, when i get old they will feel obligated to buy me lead, line and hooks. What really gets my goat is I cannot catch a Sp mack to save my life!! I can be right in the midst of people catching them, flipping them over the rail right and left.................me................using the same rig, same lure, same bait..........NADA!!! @#$%%$@!!! The closest I have come is something bit me off at my green bumper bead seperating my lead from my leader. For crying out loud, it hit a green bead!!! Ignored my live pilchard. Cut my braid like a hot kinfe through butter. You gotta love fishing!!!!! I will catch one of those illusive fish and when I do you will know who I am. Old fat guy doing back flips on the pier screaming WAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

yes, free line your baits or use topwater baits and stop complaining about the pier for your inexperience

ok westcoast lets be rude now why dont we...freeline when there is no live baits in 20 mph winds and 3 foot waves ok....good idea

Hey yall, I know this isn't the place for introductions but I'm Jeff and I'm moving back down to south florida from cold VT. I was born and raised S. FL. and I share the love of fishing like all of you.

I had a few questions:
Does Tommy (ponytail) still work at Dania pier?

Has anyone heard about Pomps and where their location is, and if any have moved through dania?

Lastly, I just joined this forum and I've been reading some of the posts on here and I know I'm going irritate someone,(and that isnt my intention) but I've noticed that whining seems to be a problem on this forum. There seems to be a lot of educated anglers on here, so instead of doing it why dont you just ask for help, or stop your complaining. I know its not my place to speak (being a newbie and all) but I had to say it.

Hopefully yall will have great catches in the next month, as I'm trying to get my 1st Vermont Buck. (Shot a doe last year)

amen to that i need a new reel after all those bluefish went thru 5 lures but we left with our limits

Ha! If only I had the pleasure of fishing everyday for bluefish, I'd also have fields of hops and barley.

Fri Am Sunrise report. Caught 2 small bluefish just outside the sandbar. Brought my 3 rods, cooler, chair, girlfriend, and oops just remembered left my tackle belt at home... Man I would have been really pissed if the bite was on...... On the tee decent bait, 99% pilchards, 1% deens and small threads were caught. Good looking silty water color, no current, no mullet schools.... Back home at 9:00

Bluefish around yesterday with some Jacks, and some smaller size Macks. Plenty of pilchards out near the end, and another school inshore which nobody seemed to notice but me.

was there today from 7-3pm with my girlfriend. we limited on macks and got 1 bluefish...tons of jacks in the am and the macks were solid between like 8-10.

Today 7:15am till 3:00pm. Clouds of pilchards from the beach to half way out till about 8:30. Jacks came in, no more bait. For those that had bait, large macks till about 11:00am. After that it was small macks and more blue runners and jacks then you can imagine. came home with about 25 SP macks. Most were 14". White or yellow crappie jigs seeemed to work the best.

its 15. we caught some macks up to 4lbs on live bait. after the bait left crappie jigs were catching them but like jbuck said they were smaller

Didn't have time to search around today. Been some at times in general. Had a bunch of mullet inshore during the night while I was there for a bit.

Today, Macks and more Macks. Evening bite lit up. Not large ones, but plenty of them. Heard the biggies were the AM and one close to 8lbs. Plenty of bait close in, in the late afternoon and a bunch of psycho Crevelles.
