Who's gonna teach me the ins and outs for sharkin?

Post by FlippinOut »

I know NOTHING about sharking, and I want to learn. Who's gonna help me. I have a Penn Int. V 2 Speed 80VSW with 1550 yards of 200lbs braid and 50yd 200lbs topshot. I dunno if thats overkill or not, but...it's the biggest reel I got. And I want big sharks, preferably big tigers/makos. SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!! You show me the ropes of sharkin, I'll show you some good Deep Sea fishing times :)

For Tiger sharks you have to fish around Juno Beach and up the coast. Makos are mostly caught around the Pensacola area. Down south we get a lot of Lemon, Bull, and Hammer. Oh I almost forgot our plentiful Nurse Sharks.

Are you planning on landbased or boat? By the way that reel will work for both and theres no reel thats really overkill. I have a 14/0 for landbased but your reels loaded with drag and apparantly lots of dacron so you should be in the clear.

Stanley the pier is not the best place to be teaching him to shark fish.
you gotta know regulars and such especiialy at deerfield or you will get run out of that place fast. It's taken a lot of time for me to be comfortable to shark fish off thier and i still don't always do it out of respect for fisherman there.

I'll give you the short short short version: Big rod, big reel, big hooks, big bait, and big balls. :thumright: Good luck.
