I was fishing next to these three gentlemen on Sunday at anglins. Right after I caught the small Cobe (one of them while i'm unhooking the Cobe) moves into the spot I was fishing. LOL give me a freaking break.

lol they were nice enough guys. Just didn't know the rules I guess. No big deal karma helped out. One of his buddies proceeded to break his rod not too long after.

Same thing I saw fishing this weekend. Googan was using a 2 piece rod and got hung up. He jerk the rod hard and it snaps and the top half goes sliding down into the water. He is so frustrate and pulls on the line in hope the hook will break loose of the bottom. The line snaps and he loose everything. I told him at least you have the better half.

Yeah you should have seen these googans trying and trying to catch mangroves to no avail. I had to supply the snapper for WhoDey's fish fry almost single-handedly.

Hands-down some of the strangest behavior I ever witnessed anywhere was on the Rickenbacker. I played hooky from work one day and had a great time catching more miniature filefish than I had ever seen before in near gale force winds.

The real entertainment started when some really loud googans (is there any other kind?, I think not) got louder. I looked to see what the excitement was and it was not what I expected. A nice gentleman was shouting in a loud (again, the only kind) Q-Ban dialect. His dog would then roll over, raise a leg and this nice fellow would then scratch his nads (the dog's). At first I thought I might be hallucinating, but he did this repeatedly. His googan buds thought this was a real hoot. The dog really liked it too. I can only imagine that this trick had been rehearsed for some time as the dog performed on que every time. Personally speaking, if this was one of my special talents (it's not), I would save it for friends and family, special occaisions, etc. On-command-dog-nad-massage is just one of those things that shouldn't be demo'd at the local pier. I thought West Virginia was bad, but Miami is quite special.

This guy was walking up and down the bridge with a speargun attached to a big coil of heavy mono, shooting at tarpon. He must have shot that thing 50 times, but didn't hit any (that I saw.) FWC came but didn't do anything to him because the officer said that he couldn't prove he was shooting it. The FWC officer also caught them with a bunch of short yellowtail but didn't give them a ticket, just a "verbal warning." WTF?!

The officers exact words to me were: "If I wrote tickets for short snapper all day, I would never have time to catch the real bad guys." Sorry, but the people who keep the short snapper are the same who would throw a jewfish or tarpon in the trunk of their car and drive home with it. Maybe if they started cracking down and issuing heavy fines to EVERYONE they catch breaking the laws, word would get around that its not worth it. I was fuming after he told me that.

Saw a good one at the st Andrews state park pier this weekend. This guy is fishing with a zebco 808 or something like it and he has one one those black stranded leader rigs with 3 hooks attached ( one is attached to where the sinker is supposed to be at the bottom). Then he uses a whole frozen cigar minnow on each hook and throws it about 25 ft off the pier in 8ft of sand bottom. Snatches like crazy each time a grunt or blow fish takes a bite.

wade fishing in the Indian river next to a couple teens and one catches a puffer fish. He is so excited and sees the camera around my neck and asked me to take a picture so I can email it to him. I am going to fish with him the next time I go out so he can learn how to catch real fish. We were all googans till someone helped us.

A couple of things piss me off about this.
#1 Isn't a witness or two good enough for proof?
#2 If not, then get him with the short YTs to @ least teach him lesson like that.
#3 What real bad guys? If hes there, apparently he has time on his hands & can issue a ticket for the law being broken.
#4 Whats a real bad guy? I don't see any whaling ships in the Keys.
#5 Remember he just didn't give THAT guy a break, he gave the WHOLE bridge a break by not showing the consequences that entail fishing illegally.

Hopefully the others present at the moment won't feel comfortable & take it as "I'll probably get a break too one day".

That is what fishing has become a lot of for me. The excitment others get when I help them catch a fish. I will never get over watching the googan BOLO crank in his first permit.

Funny thing is he gets just as excited 20 fish later.

I agree. I don't know a lot but I do like helping people who know less than me(which is not very many) catch some fish. Investing in others is not a waste of time.

Yep he had plenty of time to talk and bulls#$t with me, trying to get some tips to catch permit and big mangroves.
