Ryan's Report: Jan '09

Post by Shark_Hunter »

1/4/09: Usually this time of year I try to catch a bunch of ladyfish in the river early in the morning, and then take them to the beach a little later. Today, river fishing was slow and I managed to catch only one ladyfish. Fortunately, the lack of bait didn't ruin the day, and I got two blacktips (each on half of a ladyfish). The second one barely stayed hooked. Apparently sometime during the fight (probably on a twisting jump), the hook fell out of its mouth, but luckily sunk into the skin around the gill area. When I got the shark in the hook was bent nearly straight, and practically fell out. Anyway, these are my first ones of the year. The action has been pretty good lately....usually getting bites within a few minutes of dropping the bait. Hopefully more to come!

Nice report.
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

Im kayakying the baits out just past the breakers (maybe 100 yds from shore). Using 50 lb cajun red line attached to 30 ft of 130 lb mono leader, attached to 5ft of 400 lb mono leader, and a circle hook.
