Tips for fishing 7 mile bridge.

I will be heading to 7 mile bridge on Thursday morning with the family. I have had good times and bad times in this bridge, but I wanted to get tips from the pros. There is always something to learn and not all bridges are the same. I will be in the end of the bridge in MM40. Thank you.

Unlikely this will happen. This is why I said PM him. He is not going to give you away his fish secrets but give you a few pointers. Nobody on this forum will post their secrets. Too many lazy anglers and lurkers.

If you've never fished the south end of 7 mile before, I'd highly reccomend going out during the daylight for the first time. That bridge goes over both channels and flats, and if you set up in the dark in a random place, you might be fishing in 12" of water.

It's like any other bridge, the pilings will hold mangroves and grouper, generally speaking look for the deeper areas to fish. If you will be there overnight, walk the stretches that go over the flats at first light with a crab and a couple bucktails and a pair of polarized sunglasses, you might be surprised at what will be there to sightcast to (cough...snook and permit..cough)

The south (really west) end is the only side you can fish from now, the north end is closed to fishing.

It's not so much about the capacity but for the thicker side walls. You know WhoDey and I are not lightweight if you havent notice.

Its still a 3/4 mile walk if you're at the end. Also, they are only unlocked during daylight hours.

Well there are not 5 gallon zip lock bags, but I do believe I use the biggest ones that they have. Don't know the size. Hey it works. But for now the plans have change I will be going to channel 2 instead. Some friends had family emergency and they cannot go.

I hope everything is OK with your family. Channel 2 is a great bridge. But I still think you should try fishing seven mile atleast once.

Well my family is OK, is just that my friend nephew was in a car accident and broke his leg in several places and will get operated on the 25th. We usually go in a group and everyone takes something to share, but this time we are short so we cut the plans to go to a closer bridge. Anyways I love to fish channel 2, hopefully the weather helps out. I'll leave seven mile bridge for some other day. It wont go anywhere.
