Big Pine Keys

I will be staying at Big Pine Keys, the end of Jan. and have a few questions .
I have access to a Kayak and a 16 foot aluminum boat/ motor. Generally speaking for some one with limited saltwater experience, where would be the best areas to try? I would like to get some eating fish but also would like to try for a couple bigger fish too. I saw the post on "No Name" and will try that for sure. Are there many Mangrove Snappers in all the channels cause I will be right on one. Any info appreciated ! Also if anyone is in the area and wants to go I would buy the supplies or whatever. I also have great walleye fishing oportunities in Upper Michigan if anyone would want to trade a trip.

Be very careful by No Name when the wind is howling it funnels down that area and the waves can get big quick. There are some snapper there but I think you would be better off hitting the Gulf flats and fish around 4 - 7 ft of water drop a chumbag out and you'll get mackeral, blues, sharks, grouper , and snapper there. You will get ballyhoo, pinfish, and pilchards in the chum slick use them for bait .

Thanks for the info, I do plan on shorefishing mostly but seeing as I have the boat option as well just thought I would check on that too. I was planning on fishing No Name by bridge or shore.
