11/25 - A nice day to hunt fish

Dang, conditions were perfect. I really did have a moment on the water where I felt a little bad for those of you with 9-5's. West wind, visibility was at about 80', and no boats to be seen in any direction. Here are a few pics of my walk. Final count- 4 gator trout, 3 slot reds, and a big black.

Big ol' turtle munching a stingray, something you don't see every day.

Big black on a spoon fly (that doesn't happen every day either)

Great report . Intresting that is a softshell turtle which live in freshwater . Was that brackish water?

Not at all. It had me scratching my head too. There's a retention pond on the other side of the street on SR3, my guess is he got lost and found a snack.

Sort of. I paint but don't typically get paid for it. Oils and acrylics mostly.

Without question the single most effective blind casting tool in my arsenal, and it's the only fly I've ever fished that I can say is truly weedless. I had a day last spring where I caught 33 redfish in one afternoon on the same spoon fly. It's also the only fly in my box that I don't tie myself, I swap with a guy in the Panhandle named Captain Paul Darby. He does sell the flies, and they are very pricey, but they would still be a bargain at twice the price. I've caught pomps, trout, snook, and tarpon on them as well.

Capt. Paul Darby makes the spoons I use. Mine suck, so I quit trying.
