I was part of that 9 o clock crowd that really didnt catch much.. Although the bait was decent at the T in the early part. A nice school of pilchards pass thru and i cast my gotcha at em and landed a mack but he got off on the way up. A decent size school of mullet pass by really fast. Packing up at 12 i go for my last rod with a livey on it and my reel starts screaming i grab it and try to set the hook and lost whatever it was.. Just that kind of day..... I shall return tho!!!

Looks interesting. I've never seen a jig like that. Any straw would work?

got to dania last night around 6 till 9:30 was using live finger mullets, nothing not one bite, i didnt see anyone else catch anything either. i pack up and head to hollywood bridge i walk down a little bit nothing biting live mullet so i cut one up put 2 rods out 5 min later bam first reel starts screaming i go to set the hook miss, before i can put that rod down bam rod number 2 starts screaming this time i hook up after a 3 minute fight i win and get it to the edge but its to heavy to get it over the wall so i grab the line to pull it up i couldnt tell what kind of fish it was had a mouth like a red fish but dark in color then pop the line breaks. i only come home with a 15inch mango.

why is Dania so dead lately. I wanna go out and fish but for me it is either Dania or Deerfield.. and deerfield is a long drive from Davie to catch nothing.

yeah ppl were catching blues left and right and all i caught were snags and lost weights hooks rigs... wind was heavy and im watchign ppl flip blues one after the other and i didnt catch SH#@$#!#$. AGAIN. F MY LIFE!!!!! I guess blue fish dont eat squid anymore.....oh and WHY I SAY F@#%$ DANIA PIER.. cause of the snag factor i was fishing the same midpier areai have been and havent gotten snagged now the wind kicks up and im losing rigs one after the other right under the pier or gettign snag soon as icast... yet these guys werent getting snagged on any thing really . WTF.. oh and i love watchign ppl cooler undersized fish yet herei am and cant catch ONE and i lose my rigs. F@#$% DANI

that must have been the afternoon bite, the morning bite was slow...

and just so you know... most likely your line is too small for dania rocks.

try 20lb test, use egg sinkers on a fish finder rig, DO NOT USE PYRAMID SINKERS unless you know where the sand is...

more than that - ask a regular how to rig up - hope they speak your language and don't hate the pier, man!

just keep learning... i've been fishing since 5 yrs old and am still learning

fish finder rig?? the one i looked up looks like how i set up my rigs with anchor weights(?). used one pyramid tongiht.. other guys had them they werent getting stuck and i use 20 lb

castign the same placesi have been for 2 3 weeks and in the same area as them but no i get snagged everytime and they are pulling up countless blues... should have gone to deerfield.. long dirve but much better pier if you ask me. much safer for casting.

Dude its not the pier its YOU. Blues are more agressive than bluerunners when they are plenty. You were probably using the wrong lure? But even though, bluefish tend to hit anything thats flashy and moves.

anywhere i casted tongiht is the same place i have been casting the past 3 weeks andi get hung up. i have bent hooks strt out at dania near the T. a few yrs ago...ppl right by me were using pretty much the same rig as me and they were fine.... or trolley rigs. tried that too got hugn up 5 feet out from the pier... BS. that crap never happens at deerfield.i was fishing bottom like the rest of these guys...one dude was casting pretty much right where i was.

caught my limit of 4 to 5 lb blues today,the bite really turnned on arround noon!!seen some nice 8 to 10 lb mack's come in through out the day..as far as getting hung up??when the waters are rough with good current like it has been,you have to know were the sand is in order to stay snag free....i fished 8 hours today and never got hung up once!!

those tear drop anchor weights 6 oz, 3 foot wire leader for the blues ...sliding weight tied 6 inches on swivel on swivel....

oh and i took my little rod and hooked up a 3 ounce egg and dropped bout 8 feet from the pier and that got snagegd up and broke off as welll.. makes no sense... the dude 10 feet from me was casting right where iwas and he wasnt gettign snagged at all. like 10 ppl all in that spot and i kept gettign caught up.

on both sides of the pier? and way out from the pier and way up close as well. everyone else was fine right there... midpier by the way.... this is why i have always hated dania pier. that rarely happens to me at dfp.

Of course Deerfield is mostly sand.

Go to Dania on a clear calm day and look at the structure in the water. You have to know where to cast and where not to. Look at an aerial shot of the piers and you will be able go map out your area and fish accordingly. Dania has many rock fish.

yeah i know. this is why i have been staying mipier second benches or so causei havent gotten snagged up there but maybe once or twice until last night.. didnt matter how far or neari was to the pier .. i got snagged up hard... and it was rough yes....

clarence2society, I believe that some piers have different luck for different people. I won't fish at Dania either, because I NEVER come away without losing almost ALL my lead and rigs. No matter where I cast, I also get snagged. I think theres a valet service down there, and those who tip nicely 9the regulars), the valet fish move their rigs to better spots. Me? they always move me over the rocks. ALWAYS!!
Piers in the area? Only Anglins.
