8) They eat cut bait all the time. Most I have seen were caught on Snapper baits. Not counting the little ones caught on pieces of shrimp.

It was SLOW today. MIKE44 and I got there around 9:00am. I fished until 1:30. He is still there. I went 0/2 on Bluefish in the morning, and caught a little Moonfish on the sabiki, but that was it. STRONG wind out of the east blowing 20-25 mph + gusts, maybe a little harder. The water was dirty.

Somebody missed a small cobia in the morning. There were several nice bluefish caught on bait in the morning, a few pompano on sand fleas before I got there, and a few macks and blues on artificial. It seemed like it shut off about half an hour after I got there. I wish I would have gotten there earlier and left earlier.
Rob did catch an 11" Maragate in the afternoon. He would not let me take a pic for the tourney. He figured somebody would beat it. Remember this... I told him it would come back to haunt him when he needs that extra point.

Stupid surfers would not stay away. We yelled at them and warned them, but they kept coming really close. I warned one guy, and he yelled something about how he didn't care. The kid next to me threw a carcass at him but missed by a few feet. It was funny though.

i arrived at the pier shortly before 5am. after failing to catch anything just east of the hut, i moved to the T for some fun bluefish action. they were feasting and biting any type of cut bait...pilchards, herrings, mackeral, and even bluefish (thx tom).

by the time we left, my buddy and i walked away with 10 blues with several around the 22" mark. blues aren't bad, but i wish i had some pomps. once i got home, i soaked some fillets in milk and then cooked up one of cookinman's bluefish recipes in the forum's recipe section (with some slight modifications). good eats.

Just a few in the morning before I got there.
Rob had frozen and gulp fleas out most of the time I was there, with not pompano.
There were also a few other guys fishing for them, but I did not see one pulled up while I was there.

Yet another example of why i'm never 10 feet away from my gear. Hard way to learn a lesson.

Unless the kid had the "original box and all paperwork" sitting right next to the rod on the pier, I think Nate on eBay is legit. Good to see you trying to help the kid though. We all need to take care of each other.

Also, Thrasher kudos to you for letting the kid use some of your equipment. Very nice of you.

How do you know who did it? Did you watch them walk off with his gear or what?

OK, but if you didn't see the stuff in their hands how do you know it was them? I hope you guys realize now not to leave your gear unattended.

I'll be there all night tonight in case they are stupid enough to come back to the pier. I will tackle anyone I see with an accurate boss magnum. Hey Ricky, are you coming out to the pier tonight?

dam straight i mean i knno i have good gear so for me to go out there like maby next weekend and leave one of my good rods like 20 feew away from me or something whyle i sit in the hut and if somebodie picks it up thell be hell to pay cause im never alone lol it should be an easy way to catch them but nick123 how do you kno it was them that stole the rod and reel did youy see them if it wwas me i would of started running after them no doubt and caught them cause adrenalin rushhes make me go fast but pull a knife on them n thelll poop themself or cast a sabiki at them if it hits there skin im shure they wont kno what to do them tiny suckers hurtt  but yes it is a shame that was the only setups he had. thevory sucks i mean common if you live down here and fish there is only so many pplaces you can go to fish that rod and reel dania deerfield commercial piers and some back canals but so im ahure if anybodie sees this fourm and reads this there has to be a f ew that will se this setup comeback thanx for trying tight lines
