I am new here but Cody did a great job with that fish and should be very proud of his catch.

Good job with the sail, awesome catch and good call on the release. If the fish dies its not a result of anything that was done improperly at this point in time so the issue is null and void. All the boats were out trying to find them in 200' of water and I didnt hear of a single one caught on the radio.

Should've made your drifts in 20 feet of water.

8) Not quite. Not sure who told you this. They turn brown because they have been tired as hell from the fight. Some swim away fine, some you need to help revive their breathing till they swim off. And there'd be no reason to ever tag them if they just went off and died.

i give him props for the catch. but that fish was fought till he was tired put in a net held to take a picture. if you dont revive them after going thru something like that they will swim off but im almost positive he didnt have much energy to keep swimming im sure he sank shortly after but all in all thats a wonderful catch from the pier i did pretty good on them myself went 4 for 5 on them couple weeks back but nice catch nothing you could from a pier for that fish
anglins rules hands down dont care wat anybody says

Went to the pier this morning 6-8am, not enough time, but saw some catching bait (gogs perhaps), a a school of bait that seemed a bit too far north of the T, but perhaps promising if I had more time.
I didn't catch anything (am new at this so that probably explains it).

I'd like to know what were they using to catch the bait. It looked like a mini spoon with a single hook, perhaps a crappie jig. I tried using a gotcha but was told it was too big for the bait fish in there (though I had caught runners with it before).

Saw someone catching croakers from the bottom.

Pier was clean... thanks for that..

If you saw them use tiny little spoon to catch goggle eyes then they are called gog bugs. They are actually ice fishing jigs.

http://www.tamerproducts.net/ Marcus sell the gog bugs. Call him to order your bugs. I would look over his site and see if you need any hooks too. His hooks are very affordable and work great. Excellent customer service and very knowledgeable.

Good to meet some more of the regulars out there this week. Snake head,FishNchicks...still looking for the chicks part. Sunday was slow in the Am but you had better have gotten your Gogs, Wind turned mid day or so and got up pretty good. Occasional bite of Spanish, One King or two I think, Some Muttons, Grovers etc. Hoos around most all day.

All in all a nice day on the planks and fresh fish for dinner....Priceless

Most reliable source...it was me.

I'll have pics up soon.

I'm new to FL (moved from KY a few months ago) and to DFP ..If you've seen me I'm the idiot with the tatoos and smokin hot wife...my name's John.

Nice to meet everyone.

I'll also have pics of the Tiger Shark Drew caught right behind my sail.

Caught the sail on #2 wire, 25 lb test and a crappy a** Penn 220 GT---it's all I have, but is my buddies and that was the first fish caught on that rod and reel...

I was fishing the pier from 4 to 8 pm yesterday. There was plenty of gogs and hoos around the pier. The water was perfect for fishing, but there were so many peoeple out there that you couldn't find a spot at the T. The worst part of all was this old guy who was wearing nut-huggers and swingin around a big @ss surf rod  . Not a pretty sight. I didn't get to fish the T, but I did see a few macks get caught on trolley. I also saw three cobia following a sting ray, but they were all undersized  . Eventually I just bored of catching nothing and went home.

Small gold or black hook with a small bobbler. Tip the hook with squid. You can use sabiki but you must use heavier weight. After a few hoos caught your sabiki will be all tangle up and is no use.
