Do me a favor next time you see him, and tell him Tommy said to go fish where he "is supposed to be" fishing at.
He'll figure it out.
I did - He laughed - said he got a couple pomps last week.....

Hey Sharkman, I'm the one who got those two Pompanos. I'm not sure if we met...

Well, Sharkman pretty much covered the report. When I got there around 4 on Saturday not much was happening. I was using sand fleas and peeled frozen shrimp. Right around sundown I got a Pompano on a flea, but as I tried to bring it up on the pier he broke off the two bottom hooks of my rig and I lost him.

I threw out another line, this time I had my 3 hook Pompano rig with two sand fleas on top and a peeled shrimp on the bottom hook. About 20 minutes later it goes off and I reeled in two Pompano at the same time. This time my friend hand lined them both up onto the pier no problem. One pomp ate the middle flea and the other took the bottom shrimp.

They measured 13" and 12"

Actually - The wife asked me to get alil bet of fresh fish for sunday dinner at like 1 pm Sunday.

Headed to Pompano and in 3 cast of the Gotche had 2 mac hits 1 landed 1 BIG pull and cut.....A Dude fishing live shr9imp and tossing gotcha's all AM wasnot happy to see me walk up and score especially when his pals laid into him....lol

Same Guys freelining shrimp off the SE side of the T in " The Hole" were getting one after another, and I am sure they limited out before they lefy. Fellas also had a nice keeper Mutton in the cooler and reported 2 unders tossed back. Also saw a really nice Red Grouper come up from the S side on a live shrimp on the bottom. -Just shy and released healthy.

Caught another quick mac on a DOA shrimp and left with my 2 mac dinner. First time a DOA has nailed me a mac, but also the first time I have really tried....

It was not a "Fill yer cooler" day, but nice to know I can still produce a few macs under pressure in under an hour....lol

OH Yea, in the "Cool Sightings" category....I started tossin at DFP -Because I KNOW I can catch a few macs on gotcha quick there.....The T was SO crowded with guys fishing basspoles and not enough weight to keep lines straight, it was a bad mess....I managed one cutoff, but for the first time there could not find a lane to cast into.....anyway..Before I scramed to Pomp Pier, I sawa HUGE school ( maybe 20-30 in the 80# + range ) tarpon slowly rolling past the pier----they rolled right past a live Gog on a Balloon - CLEARLY not in feeding mode.....

Cool part was when I got to Pompano pier and was talkin with a few young brothers on the T - they saw the same pod of Tarpon just rolling and playin down the coast.....

Felt AWESOME to fish pompano pier again for the first time since it opened and I will be back for sure !!!

Nostalgia hit like a big wave and I cannot wait to get some more time to go out again !!!

So after getting the baby to nap at 1 I headed to pomp pier.

Looks like I was a little late. the rain started 1/2 way there. Knowing Pargo love low light conditions I donned the rain gear headed out anyway.

As I am headed out with a couple dozen hand select sized shrimp ( man they were the best 3 doz I ever got by accident) I am passed by folks with COOLERS full of macs..ON THE WAY OUT - Not a good sign as nobody leaves a hot bite let alone many....:(

I was right - not a mac hit in the 2 hrs there, but I did manage 4 undersize muttons on live shrimp. Could not raise a keeper.

To make matters worse at the end of my time to fish - The rain let up.

Looks like the AM Bite here was RED HOT by all accounts. I saw 3 people I know with 5, 8, and 10 macs in the cooler onthe way out - NICE !!!

Heard the shrimp were in like at anglins earlier in the week, but not after the winds shifted Sun AM early.

Most Macs I heard were brought in on belly strips, but more than a few on livies as well.

Me- I came home with just a smile on my face , as I was just happy to be fishing, rain or not, since I am on ,my last couple outings for a while !

- I'll take that smile everyday !

... I could care less about pics. Taking a pic doesn't make or break my day.

Nor could I care if someone doubts what I catch.
Better that way anyways.

Dania is terrible. Nobody go there from now on. Atleast until May.

That Sucks  - Bike injuries heal slowly if ever at all.
My best to a speedy recovery. :eye:

Might be a Good Summer job opening for someone that likes to fish.......:fish:
Sharkman954 wrote:No one is bein silent about anything.Normallyy the same things bite almost all year long.....I just dont think anone has been going there. Also there is always snook in the surf. The next thing for Pompano and ANglins will be the big tarpon and snoook
Sharkman is right on - Summer Tarpon should be rolling in soon. I kinda think the snook are resident year round - they usually are around, crashing those lollipop sized pilchards usually found in the surf at daybreak then moving deeper, later

I for one have not been there in over a month :(

DAMN Good Mac and Snapper holes to be had on that pier IMHO ! Gonna spend alot more time out there once the Mrs gets back to full speed.
