I was there from 6:30 to 8:30 today. Strong wind from the east.

6 spanish macks caught by various anglers. One guy got 4 of them. They were still biting when I left at 8:30

If you want a spot on the T and you're not a regular you have to pull an all nighter with a couple guys so no one closes in on your spot as the morning progresses.

Until the guy comes with the pressure cleaner and makes you move your chair.

True enough, but people were pretty decent. Then again there were 4 or 5 of us. :biglaugh:

I was there last week Tuesday at 6 am and there was no problem getting a spot at the T. Weekends, however, are another story. I was there on Sunday morning and it was crowded. Somebody caught a small shark (2 foot) and pullled it up onto the T. Another guy picked it up by the tail and threw it over the rail and onto about 6 or 8 trolley lines.

Yes, pressure cleaner guy is a PITA, but he has a job to do.

What bugs me are the guys who show up with 6-8 rods and set up trolleys at every corner of the T.

I responded to this same post on the Daina site and this is a duplicate response...

This has been true on just about every pier I have ever been on ( and that is a bunch) If the fishing has been good, and the conditions are right you can forget getting a corner ( or maybe even a t spot period ) unless you are willing to get up early and even that is no guarantee if someone else is willing to spend the night.

That is the way it is and never changes....I am not sure what you want....a starting time of say 9 AM ( gotta get that sleep ) and everyone line up and race to the T or what.

BTW this is not aimed at you but includes you since you made the most recent post..... this same post or variation has been made a 1000 times if not more.

Same problem during a good Pomp run or when the runners arrive finding a spot to fish can sometimes be a challenge if you don't get there early.

Course there was this pier in SC that had a 6AM lottery for numbered spots on the T....that solved getting up at 3 AM and was about as fair as it can get.

There is no good answer, just more fishermen than room available.

and Ralph if you see someone who puts out more than 3 big rods go to the pierhouse and report them.... I do know that I get asked all the time "are these all your rods " just because I am sitting in the same corner where 4 or 5 guys have put out rods. Some times people just make the wrong assumption. BTW I have seen several nice fish come from the middle of the T rail in the last few weeks....so the corner is not always needed.I also fished a couple of times last week and there was literally no one on the T when I walked out around 6 or 7 AM....nor did almost anyone come out for a good bit but by Afternoon there was a pretty good crowd.

As someone else has stated forget solitude on the Weekends if the fish and conditions are right.
