fished the weekend and almost got skunked. only thing to show for it was a small sheephead. managed to catch some finger mullet though

skunked aye. i was thinking about hitting it up there but i dont know if i am still up for it though.

what about the drum. have you seen any latley up there. it should be the time of year even at the park. i know s.i gets alot but i dont want any part of that mess up there. maybe somewhere less crowded like jetty park.

i know everyone cast as far as they can even though there right by close. i always casted far too because i like the chance of getting macks, jacks, blues, cobia etc.
if i go i might buy clams, maybe crabs if anyone has them and see what i can get.
i still wonder what would happen if i yak a bait(whatever it may be) near the shipping channel what would i get. a grouper, big cobe, shark, huge drum, blues etc. i dont think very many ppl have done it before off the rocks near the back area. but i dont know if getting a bait that far is all that great. plus i bet there are snags out there in the deep and that aint cool either. but anyway i might give it a shot at the pier and see what happens.

well i finally went to jetty park. thought i had to pay 10 but no it ended up being 5 for me
because i was a resident ha ha.

oh and since the wind was so bad we set up next to the jetty for comfort.



after setting three rods out including the shark one we both caught a fish.





btw his nickname was skelator but now we call him pompano pimpson(the son is the last three letters in his last name).

oh i forgot to mention that i yaked our baits way out like equal distance to tip of the rocks.
man i should of taken the pic so you would know.
and on the shark rod, i had 300 yards of line out. boy was that a paddle too.
but yes i knew it was low tide its just i had to go anyway. im alittle tired of s.i so i might hit the park more often. i also saw some man who looked like a local who had a big yellow cart with multiple rods in there and i believe some were conventional small gold reels and i man had long hair. i though he was a women at first.
also dont forget about the Norwegian jewel too. that thing is biiiiiiiiiiiig aint it.

ill probably be going too tomorrow. i heard the sheepsheads are being slaughtered out there.

got there at about 12.00 am. when i went to the bait-store they didn't have any fiddlers so i got a couple dozen shrimp. the guy next to me caught 7 sheephead, i didn't catch any. i managed to get two bull whiting a small flounder and 18 inch black drum so i did o.k but would have loved to add some sheephead to the menu. the only difference between the guy next to me and me was that he was using fiddlers, but it was a good day. does anyone know anywhere near the port that i can catch or dig some fiddler crabs when the bait stores don't have any. thanks

i wish i could help you on that but i only know of a place 50 miles away to catch them and that south of ft pierce inlet. but by the way you can use clams to catch sheeps.
i have and they work quite well. just buy some and see if it works up there.

ive tried clams before and ive only had sucsess with the fresh clams. they didnt have any of them and i hadnt thought of getting some blue crabs, so the only thing i thought of getting is shrimp. next time i think ill take a little scouting trip to try to catch my own fiddlers

whoooooooooooa!!! that is cold. nice catch btw. yeah that is very stupid to be out there in that but hey... an angler got to do what an angler got to do. freezes his nutz off while catching fish. man i see that huge ship in the back ground.
isn't that the Norwegian jewel. its a giant compared to other ships and it looks like it takes
up the whole channel. just 5 feet to the left or right and it be running on ground.

that cart looks like an ex hand rail, nice wheels

how are you bending that square tube.
are you gonna have 4 fixed wheels or one in the front that swivels. if you have a single i always push mine with the single in the back. it goes over holes and bumps better that way
