Finally, I broke the reel !!!

Post by kblue »

Magic touch...
I finally broke the reel handle...wasn't good reel but I liked it for its long spool with small diameter.
It was on my 12 foot popping rod to cast heavy metal lures...
I caught tons of fish. Bait runner mode broke in a year but I continued to use it.
It took almost year and a half to break the reel handle. Many free plays on bearing joints...

When I bought this reel, I knew I was gonna end up breaking the reel so I bought 2 year warranty @ $5 from Walmart.
Actually, it surprisingly lasted longer than I thought. And this reel is not repairable... So I am interested in what they can offer me...

I have three daiwa d-shock combos that they used to sell at Walmart two 6'6" and one 7' (they were like $20-30$ combos I think I got them in 2010 or earlier. The Reels were your typical loaded with plastic parts but Not like the ones now that are 100%plastic this had a decent amount of metal. I have to say that they have lasted so much longer than I expected and was by far the greatest money I have spent on fishing gear. I still use all three regularly except one of the reels has about had it but still kicking. I used the two 2500 reels for freshwater and were heavily abused by me and my fishing buddy and I set aside the 3000 reel for saltwater but has seen moderate inshore action. The rods were two piece all have seen saltwater and freshwater and the only problem so far is one guide needs replacing. It's been 5 years likely more and with the abuse they have seen they should have been 6 feet under by now. Since I realized they are like gold I now store them inside my house and take extra good care lol. I never bought warranty because I didn't expect them to last this long but from experience with other items Walmart is bad with warranties/ replacements

Good for you...

After I got my refund, I may buy a little better quality spinner.
