Lemon on 2/8/10

Post by Snook hunter »

Frozen bait went in the H20 at 9:15pm. Low tide was at 10:15pm. A fly angler caught a small jack, so I ran down the beach and basically stole the fish from him. My buddy reeled in one of the rods and we free lined him out about 150 yards. My buddy starting casting his .5 oz jig into the wind and landed a jack about 20 min. latter. I pulled in the second bait and free lined the jack out about 200 yards. I quickly notice both jacks about 5 yards out from the beach, many yards down.

Reeled in both lines and casted out fresh chunks of Jacks about 30 to 45 yards. We got a quick hit about 11pm. We were packing up and Greg hoked up with his Lemon Around 11:20pm.

That's a cool little fish. Bet it was fun on the spinning rig.

We were surprised by hooking up with a Lemon. I assume it would have been a blacktip/spinner with all the talk of them lately. I would say a blacktip/spinner of equally size pulls more drag. Still...... not complaining. It was my buddies first shark and he was stoked!
