Headed out about 6, had to get bait and tackle. Started fishing about 7. between 7 and 8, i caught three bluefish, and one whiting. The whiting was caught on shrimp and the blues were caught on the whiting as cutbait. Hooked something pretty big on clam, but it got off the hook and i didnt get to see it. Im guessing it was a pompano. Not long after 8, the tide started to change and it got real rough out there. Didnt get another bite from 8 to 1 so i headed to the house

it could of been a drum that pick up the bait since they luv clams alot.

Very true, could have been a black drum. Not really sure if anything happened at the pier. I was about half a mile north of it. Thought about heading out there when that tide became violent, but realized i left all my cash at the house . There was a guy telling me to get some sinkers called sputnicks? He said they have like these meatal arms and look like a satellite. The arms dig into the sand and keep the bait there even in the swiftest current. Anyone have any experience with these?

got something like it and it works well if you have the right weight for certain seas.
people call them spider weights. there are several types out there better then others
i believe. more expensive though.

Actually i like them a lot. Especially in Flagle because of the coquina Rock Outcroppings that are abundant. The legs act almost like a weedguard keeping the lead off crevices at least some of the time.
