looking for back country guide

Been coming down here to the keys for several years now, around this same time every year. Looking for a good back country guide. I have been fishing the bridges with pretty good luck at times. yesterday was excellent. Went out on the Marathon Lady Monday, not the best day, I actually caught more big fish off the bridges. If anyone can point me to a good back country guide I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I have fished with Capt Rich Mitchell out of Islamorada a number of times, I would definitely reccomend him. Have caught bonefish and tarpon on the flats, and have also fished back in Flamingo for snook, tarpon and redfish.

I have a good friend of mine at whale harbour his name is John Gardan he runs the back country charters there called a couple of bucks he is not to exspensive and I have known him for years he is the best give him a try

Try Magic Charters in Marathon, Barry Meyer has been guiding Back-country and Off-shore for as long as I can remember, 25+ years in Marathon area.

His son BJ now guides and captains the Silent Hunter 39' SeaVee tournament fishing boat.

Rare, Will let you know when we find a guide. From the bridges we have caught Mangrove snappers, grunts, groupers, but they were not 24", lemon sharks, bonnet head sharks, a variety of tropical fish, needle fish. Off hand that is all I can think of. Let's just say we have been eating very well every night.

Larry Sydnor. Never fished with him personally, but lots of my friends say he is the best. He was the winning guide in the Gold Cup tournament twice I believe.

I AGREE. great guy i know him personally actually. hes a family friend of my father and when i go to my house in the key largo he lives right down the street from me!

thank you all for the info. I tried to get Larry but he was on vacation, his wife recommended Billy Dahlberg (sorry if the last name is wrong). We had a fine trip with him. Lots of fish, but no eating fish unfortunately. Correction, not the exact fish that we wanted but then we are very picky eater. I would hire him again. Well we are on our way home now, NJ bound, so until next year, hope you all have great fishing and again, thank you all.
