Mini lobster season and some fishing too!

Post by Floridahogfish »

alright here it goes... went down to the keys on sunday weather was a little ruff so we couldn't go fishing had to wait till tuesday for calmer weather anyways on tuesday we head out 1 of my famous yellowtail spots in 180feet of water josh also came down as well there was a light current but we were able to pick at them for a while till it picked up once the current picked up we had to re postition and then the tails started to bite only problem was the damn cuda my dad was so pissed we were bringing up heads that weighed 2lbs a piece, anyways for me i droped down a half a mack and ended up getting 2 nurse sharks that were all of 10feet long and probably weighed 150 to 200lbs, anyways we ended up with 16 yellowtails all great size here are some photos...
josh with a nice tail Image
my dad even got in on the action Image
all of our yellowtails Image

what we all came to see MINI LOBSTER SEASON, woke up at 430 am to get the boat all prepared got everyone up and ready left the dock by 5am, got out to the reef and boy was it beautifull i even got this photo of the moon still out Image
i was in the water by 6:15am and we dragged around are spots looking for the roaches lol my first catch was this mama lobster and i thaught ohh boy this could be a bad day Image
anywas at around 11:30 am we called it a day with a boat full of 20 bugs not bad for me and my bother catching them all my mom and dad were on the boat but didnt really want to go in my 8yr old sister went in but she just goes to spot the lobsters lol although she did catch her first 1 this year a baby but at least it was a lobster she will turn out to be a great lobster catcher in the years to come. here was are total after 11:30 Image
after that we took a little break and hit the gulf side for a few more to fill out a limit for the day.
Day 2
we didnt wake up at 6am lol no way more like 10am we were so tired we got on the boat and stayed in the bay because it was already 2 late for the ocean anyways we hit a few spots in the bay a couple 40 gallon drums in the water and some nice ledges and ended up doing pretty good so we said we were gonna call it and i said you know what lets check are pay just for the hell of it and that were the big boys were at i managed to go out with a bang with this nice 5lber
Image
anyways we ended up with another limit in the bay after a hard day of work im glad its over because i am very sunburned and super hungry for some lobster dinner... here is half of our catch frozen till nxt time we feel like eating lol... low and behold did i know we were having a lobster party and my parents invited all there friends to eat half the lobster i caught but i guess thats how it goes Image
well i guess thats all i have to say till nxt time guys!

Nice reports.. and bugs.
We busted our azzz up here in Ft. lauderdale, our spots were not kind to us this year, no limit, lots of egg bearing females, very few shorts.. but we did get 52 in the 2 days. Back at the dock seems like we did better than most guys at the cleaning table.

Fairly peaceful out this year lots of boats, only had 1 real goon that motored right up on top of us and asked if it was a good spot, I gave him a peice of my mind explained the diver down flag and rules of encroachment, he said we drifting as he drifted right over out divers and our Brownies pump bounced off the side of his boat.. what an azzz.. afet a few mor choice words he powered up, looked like he marked the spot on his gps, then motored off a few hundred yards.
