Upperkeys fishing trip the last week Aug

I am Planning on going to the Keys for a fishing trip. I am considering splitting an offshore fishing trip with my cousin to do some trolling and some reef fishing and reef fishing. Im not to sure if i should just split the cost of renting a boat and try it myself? Any advice?
