Re: channel 2&5 bridge
i'd suggest a spinning rod with 15-20lbs line, for lures, etc. and a bottom rod with 30-50lbs line for bottom. live bait can be caught (cheaper) on both bridges. I prefer night fishing, just cause i dont get along with the sun very well. but first light, dusk is great times for fishing.

For Bait shops you have two Rick's Yellow Bait house's, first one is in Florida City before you enter the strech to the keys (perviously known as Jacks). Then once in the Key Largo you have the next Yellow Bait house at the following address 101741 Overseas Hwy. Can't miss it on the left hand side going south, yellow building.
The one in Florida City is open 24 HR's so regardless of your trip time you can always swing through there and grab some bait or needed tackle.
Both Shops can provide you with live shrimp, crabs, some times live finger mullet, chum, and a variety of frozen and fresh baits like pilchards, ballyhoos, thredfins, silver sides, and big mullet.

Agreed, I do the same. Only bait I usually buy are Shrimp during this team, and Crab's during all Seasons.
Unless I know the bait situation is rough then if I find fresh Hoo's I'll get them.
