The wife was feeling down so I invited her to have pizza and asked her to come to the everglades with me. I took some shrimp of course and figured the bugs would be at bay given that the temperature just dropped big time. It was more meant to be a sight seeing trip to take her mind off things. I dared to ask if she wanted to fish with me and the most unexpected thing happened... SHE AGREED!!!
Yall dont know her so this isnt a big deal... For me though its like the first time monkeys began to use tools! Either way, got there, the bugs we BAD, and I mean BAD!!! Had to bathe in off, her and I and tossed some live shrimp under a cork which produced some small snapper, a baby snook and lots of ladyfish! The water was teeming with life, there is a lot of mullet down there! Most notably I witnessed a HUGE bull shark glide right in front of me on his quest to harass the mullet! Also spotted a manatee! My girl got a few hits but no fish, however she learned how to cast and QUICK, I was impressed! She didnt like the bugs, but in the winter they go away and she promised to return when the bugs were gone and it cools down in a month or so. All in all it was good in the sense that I may have hooked her on fishing, well have to see when she catches her first! There was near nothing down there, I think well have to wait for the cool water to move in.
