Channel 2 on Saturday Sept. 17th 2011

Well on Friday night my uncle calls me and tells me there is a 20% chance of rain and a 80% he was going fishing, if i wanted to go with him. I accepted the challenge, since me and him are always in a constant battle to see who catches the biggest. We head out to the keys at around 6am Saturday. We stop at the Yellow Bait House to get some supplies and pick up a dozen fresh Bally's, 4 dozen shrimp and a box of squid. After a long and fastidious trip because of some visitors decided to do a little site-seeing and were driving at 30 mph lol... Well we get to channel 2 and park on the south side of the bridge and head to the side of the bridge where there are rocks and btw, (Its a dump down there)... Well we start setting up when there was a couple next to us that was hooked to something huge, his rod was bent like a if someone was hanging from it, and all u could hear was the zzzzz of the real and his wife saying (COñOOOOO este si esta grande) hahhaa (Damn this one is big) he pulls it in its a 24 to 25 inch mutton, only to see it get slapped by a 5 foot cuda senconds before he got it to safety. WOW, the guy was pissed and so was I... Automatically after seeing this i started casting 2 rods one with bally and another with squid. Seconds later the bally one get hit and i was alittle far, my uncle grabs it and lands a nice 16" Mangrove. Ohh man i was exited, we kept fishing and we were catching small one and were releasing them. I landed a nice 17" yellow tail that fought like a true snapper. then it stopped all of the sudden I feel this tremendous pull on my line, like I was being pulled by a truck, and then it started, a fight that went well over 3 minutes of pulling, reeling and hands hurting, line flying out of the reel, and bad words too, it was intense, loved every second of it, WHEN our of nowhere, it stops pulling, and OH TO MY SURPRISE, the damn monster what ever it was, decided to go back to sleep under his rock... AHHHHHHHHHHHH jajajajjajaa it was bad I tell you, I felt demoralized for the rest of the day jajajaja. but it was fun. Here is a picture of some of the ones we got.

If I got a mutton that big stripped by a cuda I wouldve put my reel on free spool and jumped in after it!!!...other than that thanks for the report man good job.

The one thing I am suprised about though is that yellow tail, usually its alot of the smaller ones but there are keepers around.

oh man, i felt bad for the dude, i was like jump in and slap that cuda jajajaja, you can imagine the face on the old lady when she saw this happen before her eyes, her food getting eaten by other food, jjajajaja she was screaming buajajajaja... yeah guys, we tried to do a good job and post some experience, reading some of the reports here fuels me and makes me wana go back jajaja. We had an awesome time nonetheless, but that moment when that monster got away! leaves me with nightmares, I just want to know what it was!!! ahhhhh jajajajajajaja that suks! can anyone tell me plisssss!!!

Ohh about the yellowtails, man we got like 10 but like u said all small, funny thing is right when i was bringing in this one, a boat of the FWC passed right infront of me asking with his hands how big it was lol. I was like i dont know, its not out yet jajajjaaja.

Are you sure that wasn't the chubs? They can let out some strange noises.
