going to the keys for a night or two wed/thurs/fri...advice?

Sucks the conditions were rough. Post up next time you're going down and I bet some guys will meet you. I'm planning on fishing the keys a bunch this spring and early summer before my wife pops out a kid and I'll be tied down for the next 18 years, lol.

Hey I think I did see you on the bridge in the raincoat as I drove off. I thought you had mentioned you were gonna be fishing at night, so it didn't occur to me to ask around. I was on the South side of the bridge, 3rd platform out. I didn't get any keepers either, so don't let it get to you, it happens more often than not.

oh were you the guy in the black shirt or dark color and fishing the platform on the inside about 75 feet from me... then a woman came up and you left?


and yeah guys i did what i could and worked it but hey only so much you can do... next time i will give a heads up so we can get together.... i was gonna fish night time but when i went out there thursday night it was pitch black and the gf and i felt a bit daunted and i didnt wanna head out with no protection just in case someone wanted to start trouble or rob us or who knows....next time ill give a heads up...im hopin next month i can head down and as i said ill have my boat in the water so i could fit 3 fishing and my gf...small 18 foot vessel but good enough to get some snapper or tarpon fish etc.... i need to learn boat tactics so itll be interesting nonetheless lol

I was actually wearing a long sleeve grey shirt, black cap, and jeans. I don't remember what my girl had on lol.

I'm with you on the night fishing. Unless its 3 or 4 people, I'm not a big fan of having to deal with any potential idiots out there.

yeah exactly if it was me and 2 of my boys and my gf id be cool. but i wouldnt chance her or me getting hurt by ourselves...i mean i can only do so much against 2 or 3 dudes ya know... and if my filet knife isnt clsoe im screwed lol.... we should meet up next time i come down.. im thinkin in march ill do it again and bring the boat. my partner just got our tags and boat us and we are fixing the carb in the next two days.. FINALLY on the water

I've been fishing the Keys bridges over 20 years and never had any trouble I didn't start for one reason or another. You have a greater chance of your car getting broken into than anything. Hide anything of value in your trunk and you decress those odds greatly.

i have an suv and an alarm but i doubt i would hear the alarm from middle bridge...its such a far distance...

They'd be gone before you got there. I've never had an issue with my cars there but I heed my own advice.

yeah right on.... not somethign id take chances with... i even called BSO for gunlaw and the officer talked ot me for twenty mins about how to properly store and travel with my side arm.. that was nice of him for sure

I've pulled many overnighters on the bridges by myself and never had an issue or felt threatened. Just keep an eye on your stuff and don't leave rods where you can't see them. Only issue I ever had down there was my license plate got stole once, I didn't realize it until a friendly Monroe County deputy pulled me over to advise me up in Key Largo

He was cool about it...I had no idea why he pulled me over, it was about 5 in the morning and I had the cruise control pinned at the speed limit. He asked me why I was driving without a plate, I must have given him a very confused look and then I realized someone took it at the bridge lot. Just gave me a warning to get it replaced within 7 days.

Nope, Office Dale would have made me unload my coolers on the side of US 1 and look for illegal snapper.

Rory you should have told him you wanted a report about it being stolen and he would have been a ghost
