Hello,
I am a new member and i wanted to know about fishing the upper keys with lures. I am looking to catch anything. I want to fish with lures. I have metal, crippled herring, t-hex av.'s. I have top water poppers and sp minnows and micro lures. Is there a bite from shire with lures or should i stick with bait. It seems like there are mullet around and i have some nice mullet imitations. I also have buck tails. Are there any fish around that will take lures? I would be happy catching taylor blues. What king of lures do you use?

Fish any of the bridge channels with small bucktails or Gotcha plugs. Also casting barracuda tubes.

What can i expect for blue fish? Are they in the 12-18 inch range or smaller?

thats the thing you cant "expect" anything with blues. they can go 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds.

Keys blues tend to be under 3 lbs and generally are around 12 - 18 inches. Cut bait is beter for them as the bridges height makes it tough to fish most lures for them. As pointed out Gotchas work as do jigs tipped with strips.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.
