Hi All...from Boynton Beach

Post by flycaster »

Hi all, flycaster here. Once I started flyfishing, hardly ever, ever, picked up my spinning rod. Hardly ever fished for trout (maybe three times), but talk about all the other species, like large mouth bass, northerns, chain pickerle, snook, stripers, albies, tarpon, bones, permit, peacocks, sharks and anything else that swim the fresh/saltwaters, I'm into it. No snob appeal here, just love the aesthetic activity and the feel of the take that has me hooked on flyfishing.

I live in Boynton Beach and fish just about all the ponds in the neighborhood (until I get kicked out). I fish the fresh water topwater, almost exclusively. Not too much interested in the fight, but it is the hook-up and the jumps that get to me. Go out to the beaches around Boynton to fish the surf and right now I'm doing the snook, ladyfish, macks, jack thing...when the surf isn't too high. Also, I'm into travel fishing, mostly in the Caribbean and Mexico. Peas down in the Amazon are always on the menu.

My biggest problem is that I don't have many folks to travel with out of the country. Not that I'm ant-social, but just no one in my community that does this type of fishing. Also, I haven't joined any flyfishing groups...don't know why, but I guess I'm just too lazy and want to have a free rein on my time.

I'm looking forward to maybe meeting a travel partner and to info about the latest in surf fishing around the Boynton area. BTW, got into some jack and ladyfish blitzes off the Boynton Inlet this last week. High surf and high winds, a boss of the house to cast, but a lot of fish to be had.
