Bruce from Long Island - Visiting Florida in end of June

My son and I are looking for advice on Fishing piers, and free fishing from LBTS and south to Key West.

have already stumbled on Anglin's Fishing Pier and the Newport Fishing Pier (Hope it re-opens before we arrive)

Not sure what type of gear to bring (on the plane) and will have to probably have two piece spinning gear....

If someone can give advise on braid, or mono (20lb or 30lb test)...do I need heavier leaders or anything special ?

Jettpark pretty much hit the nail on the head in several ways. Keep an eye on your surroundings, fish well lit areas.
