South Florida pier fishing
My name is Johnny I live in northeast Florida (jacksonville) fishing here is fantastic for redfish, trout, flounder inshore. A bunch of kings caught off of Jacksonville beach pier until thermocline hit this week, water got cold and dirty. Whiting bit in the surf very Good Friday 7/5 along with smaller bluefish and bonnet head sharks. We had a very good snook fishery until the great freeze 3 yrs ago but coming back. My question is I am heading to Jupiter in about 2 wks. How are the snook on Juno pier? Last time I went they were everywhere 2 yrs ago. I free lines pilchards, greenies but only caught a large Spanish and a small kingfish. No snook others around me caught them. I used flurocarbon leader,etc Only fished the pier the 1 day so did not have a chance to observe and ask questions. Any suggestions on what I need to do?

From the pier go close to the trough by the beach and fish tiny pieces of shrimp or squid to catch mojarras or croackers. You can also use bluerunner heads, big pilchards, thread fin herring, bonito guts, big shrimp, mullet as Jonathan mention, etc... This time of year the snook will eat just about anything, when season opens is another story. From the beach artificial lures can work as good some times.
