As we break the inlet we are met by HUGE roller 3-5 wth occasional 8 footers mixed in. we slow jugged to the wreck and began jigging. The current was tough we were drifting north but being pushed south. our jigs were in front of us before we knew it. We cruise over the wreck and BAM miguel is on! he gets tight and the fight is on! we start seeing color and finally see the silver color of a keeper African pompano! We reset a few times on our 5th or 6th drift Miguel hooks up again! bigger fish we thought.... we see it come up and to our surprise he has 2 yellow tail on the same jig!
The bite slowed a lil, as we are all jigging we see something jumping out of the corner of our eyes. a gorgeous blue dolphin just free jumping. A few minutes later the peanuts came. we were able to get to in the boat before they swam away. About our last drift I get hit on the jig, feels heavy and has some power. we clear the lines and see its comming up! Miguels sees it and yells COBIA!!! we get her to the side of the boat and sink the gaff. high 5s all around!
We had numerous bonita hits and a few kings that made it to the boat but cut threw as we went to gaff. Dorian and miguel made about a 100$ investment to the wreck while we were there.
All in all a great day on the water we headed in about 1130 when the wind picked up, cant wait to head out again and do some damage to those AJS
