So I walked the beach instead and worked my pompano magic. I caught one pompano on a 3 inch gulp shrimp, missed a couple, and a couple croakers, and ladyfish. Walked back to beach camp to get the tackle box and a cold one to really hit the beach hard. Went back up the beach with my stepdad and of course the water muddied up and it started to get windy. Didn't catch any fish at that point.
So the tide was going out now and all the googans were lining the pass not catching a thing. I showed my stepdad how to work the swimbaits in heavy current on the east side of the bridge on an out going tide working the swimbaits towards the bridge.
I havn't fished snook in about two years cuz I'm hooked on Permit, but havn't forgot any of the tricks.
First cast my stepdad was hooked up with an 28 inch snook! I applied the "Shuffle with the hommies" Boyton beach aproach to fishing this current and it worked like a charm. Anyway we caught lunkers like LunkerDog in peoples faces for about two hours landing a total of 20 and jumping many more. The local googan population was in awe of my snook fishing magic. Ran out of PBR and the ole ladys were saying it was time to go so left them biting. No pics to busy catching fish.
