It's still open to wade fish but me and my dad go up on the bridge and catch cobia. And snook when the seasons open I do most of my wade fishing at Ponce de Leon Park. I got scared to wadefish after I read this story in the weekly fishing section in our newspaper.About a huge supposedly 16ft hammerhead shark out at Boca Grande the tarpon fisherman nicknamed him Hitler.Every time tarpon start to show up out there here comes Hitler. Not only him but 3-400 lb Bull Sharks they eat the tarpon like my bait. But hey what do I know I'm only 15.

Local Fishing Areas
I am going to Englewood, I'ts the first time I've been there and was wondering if anyone knows a couple of decent fishing piers or a jetty. I don't think its too far from Venice. I plan to bring a couple of 650 Penn spinning rigs spooled with 15 LB. test line. Do you have any good head boats or fishing areas that you could steer me to? Also how is the best way to rig?

Im goning to get to the gut to do more wadefishing Tonyb
bigdipper heres some pics of the venice jetty and sharkys pier. There both good places to fish but i would fish the jetty. I would rig with 18in 30 lb leader and a #1 or 1/0 and a live shrimp a splitshot or two depending on the tide anyways heres the pics.

Info
Hey thanks for the information. I definitely will give both those spots a try. I looked on mapquest and Venice is only about 12 miles from where I
am staying in Englewood. Do you think thaat 15 lb. test line is heavy enogh or shoud I bring a larger rig? How about head boats? Do you know where they go out from? My wife likes to hang around the beach sit in a lounge chair and read a book, but I go crazy if I have to hang around all day do nothing.

Not sure about head boats i went on a charter a year ago but i cant remember the guys name.I'll see what i can find but you should try a google search and see what pops up.I would bring a bigger rig just in case cause you never no what you might get into at ether one but 15lb test should be good.Good Luck
