Gear for Bridges/Pier/jetty

Post by kyfisherman »

I have got 2 Daiwa Emcasts that have good line capacity on 2 OM Lite 12' surf rods. Now I know that there is a lot more fishing to do than just surf fishing. I was wondering if you guys thought it was a good idea to buy a couple extra rods for bridges and piers and take them off when I go to a pier or something. I can't take everything when I'm on vacation because the wife has to brings stuff to lol...

You guys think the emcast is good enough? also they will have about 17lb line on them, but I will have an extra spool for each but going with much bigger line on those reels may defeat the purpose. I don't know how many rods people like BF use at channel 2, but I was planning on taking at least 3.

So I'm looking for a rod reccomendation, on a budget, and wondering if my reels will do the job on a permit or tarpon?!
