Hallandale Beach Surf Fishing
Hey guys I recently moved to Hallandale Beach (The Beach Club) and I've been fishing the beach hours and hours a week and still don't catch anything. For bait i've been using flair hawks and bucktails but nothing. I see people fishing but I only saw one person catch something and it was a snook. He used a white flair hawk. I still have had no luck catching anything. Do you guys have an suggestions or tips? I usually fish when the sun goes down. I'm new to surf fishing so I don't really know the science behind fishing on the beach. Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Hello.
I rented at the beach club this winter season and found the winter is more active ( pompano, jacks, blue runners, bluefish, than this hotter summer stuff... Also low tide was not practical there as incoming the high tides faired better.., brisk winds from the easterly did better too, Check the high tide charts...
I liked baits on the bottom with small hooks, squid, shrimp clam... I think the SNOOK season is now so keep trying with the higher tides, and casting the lively spoons and feathers...

And yes the open beaches offer very little structure for fish like snapper or spanish mackeral to call home, maybe by luck only with bait blitz...
Part of the fun of surfishing is the enjoyment of learning this sport everyday and not by how many fish get hooked... The ladies passing by asking, " did ya catch anything today" is an added bonus too... Have a pen and paper reader if ya phone isn't charge, LOL...

I fished this beach up up until I was 16, and I still go back every now and then.
Summer time = bait, fish the bait schools and you'll catch jacks, runners, lady fish, and occasionally mackerel and cudas. Any lure that comes close to looking like a pilchard will get hit. Topwater is the most fun way, but mirrolures and x-raps deliver the most results. The majority of people I've seen use spoons, but IMO they're not as effective.
If you want to sit and fish live bait, you'll have a good shot at snook with pilchards and the croakers you see running around. They'll take the white jigs you're throwing and other life-like lures too. What tide you're on doesn't matter as much, what matters is making sure the tide is moving.
I'll be honest though, Hallandale isn't that snooky of a beach. Dania and Haulover (to your north and south) have way more fish.

But I need more info like what size were the jacks and bluefish, what method of fishing, bait or lure and what time and high was the water...

Mostly small jacks, less than 12 inches. But I did catch one about 16 inches. The bluefish was about 20in. I was fishing with a bucktail on high tide. It's hard to believe that most of my fish were caught about 10-15 feet in front of me.

Ok,
Still need more info, how was the Bucktail worked, steady retrieve or slow jerks and what size weight on what size pole, and di ya use a pork strip on it or did ya keep it plain...

Hey brother moose, I'm not serious nor sarcastic, I'm very much interested to know how the author of this thread plays his fish.. I'm a bottom fisher with bait and lead so it would be hellpful to me since I'm not a pier man...
Oh yeah, I might add a slight touch of fun with my posting to keep this thread lively...
I would have asked him too if he cooked them for dinner but he never replied....

I have fished the beach all this time till 2012. It's the year this area died. Hollywood too.
Don't know why. Climate change? El Nino?
Before that I was catching plenty. Jacks, bluefish, ladyfish, even small bonefish (3-5 lb). Usually on dead bait, cut fish and squid.
Lots of snappers after dark.
Now, only black snapper.
