where are the Snook?

Post by Ronmoll »

I know the Snook stopped breeding back in late August. Now I don't see them anywhere. Are they in the back rivers and bays? Only caught a couple shorts this year. Have yet to catch a legal one to eat. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks...

Depends where you are fishing.

After the fall bait migration they usually are in the intracoastal and canals and some are still in inlets just not summer time numbers. Look for good current with drop offs near structure and bridges with good shadow lines. As the water cools they will not be as active and feed on smaller baits such as shrimp

I'm in Pompano Beach, but usually fish the John Lloyd Park area.

Definitely agree with Salty. It is still warm so I'd fish live mullet. Once it gets cold they will gradually switch to eating shrimp. (Water temp dictates this, not outside temp)
