Can someone explain to me how to work the spillway map on the sfwmd website? i used to understand it but i think they updated it and i cant work it for the life of me

You should have been out there already I'm sure most are closed by now. A category in the data table called (State) should say all closed or how many open to what height. Idk about a nap but there's a data chart that will tell you all

I stand corrected some are still open in Ft. Lauderdale down here in Miami only a gate or 2 here and there are open

With the threat of Erika last week the water fugger-uppers panic'd and dumped millions of gallons of water lowering most of the major canals, in fear that something would flood if the storm came... so now the gates will hardly open except to level out the remaining drainoff.. if you are looking at the data which is real time, you are to late unless you live very close to the gate you want to fish.

They typically open and close the major gates based on the tides, outgoing so that salt water has little or no chance to intrude into the fresh water side...

Figure out the tides at the specific areas you wish to fish.. they are sometimes as much as an hour off from standard tide tables and are affected by other things like barometric pressure and wind..
Follow and check the water levels where you plan to fish and upstream as often as you can.
With those parts of the equation you can sort of predict when and where gates will open and close.
