Hi i'm new to this forum and Snook and Tarpon fishing in general. Recently I caught an exact 40" and 25" Snook and a 10lb Tarpon but they were both in freshwater and very unexpected. I don't like asking for spots but i really want to start targeting Snook and tarpon on purpose. Any general knowledge of areas in the inter coastal or how to catch them would help. Also i recently bought some flair hawk jigs but haven't gotten hit on them yet, so any advice with those or other artificials that work good would be helpful.

The inlets hold fish at certain times of the year. Here's a secret I've never shared or seen posted. When the small jacks are around like they should be now. Go to the north jetty on the outgoing and swim out a 1 lb jack. If the Sharks stay away big tarpon are around. Both sides of the jetty hold snook on the tide change at high. As far as the intercostal it hold fish year round but they are tough to catch and are thicker during the mullet run.

Walk the beach to the south of the inlet with Xraps or top waters at day break. The bugs are horrid but I've hooked or seen caught tarpon snook jacks bonito cudas and runners caught doing this. The piers hold snook and tarpon as well once the bait arrives and stays.

are you talking about john loyd and dania pier? and port everglades jetties?

I'm 99% sure he is, Those are literally the same area, john u Lloyd Is the beach, the pier is in the middle and the jetty is at the north end. So just start at the jetty and work south
