Question on where Surf Fishing is OK and times

Post by lilxvu »

I normally fish from the pier but am trying surf fishing for pompano this season. I have been surf fishing around Sunrise Blvd in Ft Lauderdale most of the time after the lifeguards finish their day at 5pm because that is the only place I feel I am able to avoid trouble.

Is there anywhere else in Broward/Palm Beach county that allows anytime surf fishing or any place I should avoid because of restrictions? I am not trying to steal any spots or of the sort, I just would like to avoid the trouble of getting kicked out after setting my rod spike into the sand.

If someone can help me out, I vow to report back after a days worth of fishing everytime I'm out there! :toast:

In most places you'll have to go before the life guards are on duty or afterwards. The only place I can think of that you can surf fish without problem during the day is John Lloyd State Park. But the bite mostly sucks from 9-16 most days so I generally just go early in the am before sunrise to hollywood / dania beach.

like juvinious said, i've fished off beaches before before lifeguards came. some lifeguards don't mind you fishing if no one is around the beach, but usually i am already heading to a new location before they come or as i see them coming. john u lloyd i go just before sunrise a lot and had some good times there. good luck out there!
